Hoa Lan and Hoa Tra, bears who were imprisoned in Vietnam for their bile, have finally been rescued!
The bears receive emergency medical treatment before being transported to
safety...
After an all-day rescue operation, the two bile bears arrived safely to
their new home at our bear sanctuary in Vietnam late Tuesday evening, August
14.
The rescue in progress...
A lifetime of neglect, no sunlight or fresh air has clearly taken its
toll on the bears. Both bears are very obese from poor diet, lack of
exercise and suffer from dental disease that will require further medical
care in the near future. Now, the bears will finally receive the specialized
care and attention they need.
The bears are currently in quarantine at our sanctuary receiving bear
appropriate food, fresh baths, enrichment, soft beds and enough room to
finally stretch their legs for the first time in their lives. Our bear
experts report that both bears are calm and relaxed in their new
environments - it seems as if they know they are finally free!
Thank you for making this rescue possible. We look forward to updating you on the progress of Hoa Lan & Hoa Tra as they leave quarantine in the coming weeks!
