Isaiah 61:1-4
John 1:6-13
Romans 8:18-19
1 Thessalonians 5:16-28
God’s children free creation from its present corruption, because they have
the heavenly love, compassion, and empathy to feel the anguish of the
millions of humans and billions of animals who suffer and die every year, as
well as the environment in which we all live, and do something about it.
Yes, we are to do everything we can to help free creation from its present
corruption, and not just sit back and wait for the second coming of Jesus
Christ; listen to what we are told in Romans 8:18-19…
18. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
19. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing
of the sons [children] of God.
NASB
Think about what this passage is telling us…If we sit back and do nothing,
we are not revealing ourselves.
We have to do something to reveal ourselves, and one of the best ways is to
become vegan.
Think about this and how God’s children free creation in terms of what we
are told in Isaiah 61:1-4…
1. The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
Because the LORD has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives,
And freedom to prisoners;
If we are truly born again, isn’t the spirit of the Lord upon us?
Absolutely, and with this anointing we should feel the suffering of the
whole of creation and do everything we can to eliminate it, which brings
hope and good news to the afflicted.
We are not Jesus, but because of Him, we are also being anointed as children
of God.
This is not a title to be proclaimed; this is a call to peaceful action to
do everything we can to end the problems in this world.
We are to overcome any timidity, and both speak out against the evil and
violence that is going on in this world, and at a minimum become vegan,
which in turn, on the average, per person saves nearly 100 land and sea
animals every year from a life of suffering, and at the same time lowers the
amount of greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere.
Humans who are displaced by war and poverty are brokenhearted as are those
who mourn a loved one, and the same is true for all the animals on factory
farms and in laboratories, and we need to remember that all of these
situations are caused by our fellow human beings, and we need to end all
forms of support for these ungodly industries and people, and speak out
against them.
2. To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
The day of vengeance of the Lord is His second coming, and His kind of
vengeance is really not violent, but He will remove the evil people of this
world, and bring all His children who suffer and mourn to heaven.
And we need to remember that if we have empathy, we feel the pain and
suffering of others, both humans and animals, as well as the earth, which
causes us to mourn for them, and comfort them in any way we can.
3. To grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
The use of the word “Zion” refers to the center of Jewish culture or the
Temple Mount in Jerusalem, and that this message was meant for the
Israelites in the time of Isaiah, but we believe that his prophetic message
also includes Christians, both of whom are scattered all over the world.
However, since both Jews and Christians are charged with protecting the
whole of God’s creation, and those who mourn about the horrible violence,
pain, suffering, bloodshed, and death that has been inflicted upon millions
of humans and billions of animals who also mourn, we believe that this
message is meant for all of us.
We need to plant the heavenly will of God here on earth as it is in heaven
so that the Lord will be glorified through our efforts to help free creation
from its present corruption, and from the peace, love, compassion, and
empathy that flows from us.
4. Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins,
They will raise up the former devastations,
And they will repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
NASB
And just as the retuning Jews from Babylon rebuilt the city of Jerusalem and
the Temple some 2500 years ago, today we are to help restore God’s creation
to the way it was in Eden, for God’s children free creation.
John 1:6-13 speaks about how John the Baptist prepared the way for the
Lord’s ministry, just as we believe we all should be doing today for His
second coming…
6. There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
And today, we strongly believe that God has called upon each and every one
of His truly born again believers to help free creation from all the
violence and other ungodly acts that are causing millions of humans and
billions of animals to suffer and die every year.
7. He came for a witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all
might believe through him.
And we are to be His witnesses today, but not only of Jesus and His second
coming and His saving grace, but of Jesus’ teachings and the restoration of
creation.
8. He was not the light, but came that he might bear witness of the light.
However, today, we who have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit are to be His
light in the world to shine forth His truth so that others will see through
all the lies and deceptions that are plaguing this world and leading many
astray.
9. There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every
man.
In other words, everyone heard and/or saw the truth in the midst of all of
the corruption, which is what we should be continuing to do today through
our words and lifestyles.
10. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world
did not know Him.
This is also the way the world is today, even among many Christians,
including many clergy, for while they have been enlightened, they still live
and participate in the corrupt ways of this world, and even deny it, even
though their lifestyles say they are not living in God’s will.
11. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
Many may even believe in Him, but they are not receiving all His teachings
and the ways God desires us to live.
12. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
And this is still true today; we have all been given the right to become
children of God, but only relatively few people have exercised that right.
Remember that children of God are also peacemakers as we are told in Matthew
5:9, but we cannot be peacemakers when we eat animals and further pollute
our atmosphere, for true peacemakers are peacemakers for the whole of
creation.
13. who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the
will of man, but of God.
NASB
This is what true peacemakers are, for God’s children free creation.
If we think about how God’s children free creation as we look at 1
Thessalonians 5:16-28, we will see how many of the Bible passages point us
in the direction of heavenly living.
16. Rejoice always;
How can we rejoice when we see all the horrible violence, bloodshed, pain,
suffering, and death that plagues the earth and pollutes the environment to
almost the point of no return?
But the children of God can see through all this horrible corruption of
God’s plan into the glory of heaven and realize that they are part of the
solution here on earth, for they are helping to free creation from its
present corruption.
17. pray without ceasing;
We need to do this and ask for the Lord to strengthen us so we don’t get so
frustrated at the hardness of heart in the world that we give up, and not
only will He strengthen us, but we will be able to see the things that we
can do to help free creation from its present corruption.
18. in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ
Jesus.
Think about all the good things that we have, and all of the beautiful
things and beings that God created and our thanks will begin to flow
continually from us; think about a beautiful wild flower, the deer we see,
the increase of veganism in the world, and the water flowing out of the tap,
for they are all things to be thankful about.
19. Do not quench the Spirit;
In more positive words, always allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in all that
we do and say.
20. do not despise prophetic utterances.
Remember that prophetic utterances are also the things that people say in
the heavenly will of God, and not necessarily about something in the future.
21. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
Sometimes I have a tendency to react too quickly, as a lot of people do, but
we need to pause a moment to see whether or not what we see and hear is in
the heavenly will of God, for that is the only way we are really going to
know what is good for us and the whole of God’s creation.
22. abstain from every form of evil.
We should never go along with anything that is not in the heavenly will of
God, for those are the things that further corrupt this world; in fact, we
should take a stand against such things for that is all part of helping to
free creation from its present corruption.
23. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your
spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We all need this, and I believe that these words are meant for us, just as
much as they were originally meant for the Thessalonians some 2000 years
ago.
24. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
The Lord does and will continue to call His children, and He will help us
free creation from its present corruption, and what we cannot accomplish, He
will when He returns.
25. Brethren, pray for us.
Paul wants the Thessalonians to pray for him and those who accompany him,
but I believe that all of God’s children need others to pray for them.
26. Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
In this case I believe that the brethren are those who are already God’s
children, but we can greet others even with a smile and a friendly greeting,
which in turn helps them to have some hope for a better tomorrow, and
perhaps even become one of God’s children.
27. I adjure you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brethren.
We might not be able to have this letter to the Thessalonians be read by
everyone, but we can be this living letter to them through our lifestyle.
28. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
NASB
We pray that this is true for all of us, and this in turn helps in having
God’s children free creation.
Amen?
Amen.
