A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Dairy Products – 11 August 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

When discussing my change to a vegan lifestyle, I often say that if I had it to do over again, I would first eliminate all dairy products. For a year after becoming “veg,” I had continued to eat cheese and drink skim milk – and I continued to have some health problems. I couldn’t understand why I had a lingering sore throat and the doctor I consulted only gave me medications.

Finally, I took my husband Frank’s advice and eliminated all dairy products. The result? No sore throats or other subtle health problems that I had thought were “normal.” That was over nearly twenty years ago, and I have been free of colds or sore throats ever since that time.

That’s why, if I were starting over again, I would drop all dairy products first of all.
