I think that few people could reasonably argue with the case made here for the churches taking account of animal welfare. However, the challenge remains to get the churches to pay attention -- they don't want to offend their members, and they risk losing membership if they stop serving flesh, stop endorsing hunting and furs, etc.

The Christian Vegetarian Association has been trying several strategies, including our Honoring God's Creation DVD. Also, we are completing the production of a 3-part curriculum called The Earth Is the Lord's. While it is designed to be non-threatening, and it brings in environmental and human health concerns, it will remain a challenge to get the churches to use it.
