Dear Laura:

Thank you for writing. You are not alone in your feelings about most Christians; there is a lot of hardness of heart that obscures the truth.

There are several reasons that God “allowed” the eating of meat. The most obvious is that the people were doing it against the will of God, and God gave them a concession to limit their evil ways in the hopes of bringing them back to Him and His heavenly will. This is also coupled with a curse that eating animals would harm our health, which we know it has. And the other reason is God was allowing humans to “stew” in the evil of their own making.

Bible scholars who have studied language and culture have found that all references to ritualized sacrifice were written into the Bible following the return from Babylon about 2500 years ago.

We hope this helps.

We also have a veg-Christian email discussion group which you are welcome to join and we have a weekly newsletter. Please let us know if you are interested in either of these.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
