1. Activist Feedback
John, who leafleted at the DC Fest Christian Music Festival on 8/16, writes:
I spent 2 hours handing out booklets and talking to attendees as they
arrived to the venue. I estimate handing out about 150 booklets. Several
people I met were already vegetarian. It's always a blessing to perform
outreach at this event on behalf of CVA. Thank you for the opportunity!

2. Letter in the Conway Daily Sun, 8/21/14
Mr. Chrenko (7/29) correctly notes that the Inuit need to eat flesh to
survive, but we who have plentiful nutritious, tasty plant foods have
choices.
We could, like Mr. Chrenko choose to financially support the extreme abuses
of today’s factory farms, which includes weeks or months of intensive
confinement, mutilations without pain relief, and frustration of nearly
every natural desire animals have. Factory farmers embrace whatever reduces
costs, regardless of the cruelty involved.
Likewise, we could support an animal agribusiness enterprise that causes
much more global warming, pollution, and land, water, and energy loss than a
plant-based diet.
Further, we could eat meats that are heavily laden with saturated fats,
hormones, and antibiotics known to increase the risk of heart disease,
obesity, diabetes, certain cancers, or other conditions.
Or, we could choose a plant-based diet that, to the best of our ability,
embraces the values most of share – compassion for animals, environmental
protection, and preservation of our bodies. Mr. Chrenko asserts that God
doesn’t make mistakes, but people make mistakes all the time.
