Sharon writes: My very first time leafleting for the Christian Vegetarian Association was a wonderful experience! My event was a Salvador (Christian/Latin/Rock band) concert here in Charlotte, NC. I got to Knights Stadium pretty early to scope out what areas would be best for me to walk around and be seen by as many people as possible. I was wearing a shirt I bought from PETA so you know it was provocatively pro-vegetarian, but still OK to wear at a Christian event of course : )

As concert goers started to appear I approached groups of people and offered them information on how to live a more compassionate lifestyle. At times people would approach me and ask me what I was giving out or what I was doing.

People asked me how I equated vegetarianism with a compassionate lifestyle. They asked me why I became a vegetarian. They asked me if I believed all Christians should be vegetarian. I got a couple of "God made us rulers over the animals so we can eat them" argument. I just smiled, nodded, heard them out, and politely asked to just read the literature with an open heart. Kill 'em with kindness has always been a personal mantra of mine and I definitely lived it out some parts of that day.

For the most part the people at the concert were responsive and receptive. Some were even excited that there is such an organization like the Christian Vegetarian Association and couldn't wait to learn more about it. Some people really read the literature and I could see them really starting to think about vegetarianism in a way they hadn't before. It was awesome.

I distributed all 300 of my brochures on site. Being a pretty dominant, persuasive, confident and strong-willed woman, it didn't take much for me to share the great information in the brochures with my brothers and sisters in Christ and have it well-received. I can't wait for my next leafleting opportunity!

Congratulations to Michael B., who was closest to the correct number of CVA members in California, which is home to more CVA members than any other state. We have addresses for about 70% of our 4200 members, and of these 411 live in California.
