The Greatest Disconnect
In his new book, "Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat,"
Hal Herzog tries to grasp the great paradox of the majority of people
who are enraged at the cruelty toward pets but eat their chicken or
steak without any guilt. In this interview, Herzog answers questions
from: Why did people got so upset with "cat bin lady" and "puppy
throwing girl"? to Is there a link between animal abuse and later human
abuse?

Our conflicted relationship with animals
The huge disconnection between our daily behaviors and ethics goes
unnoticed to most people. They love their dogs but they also love eating
chicken wings. The worst part of it is that they don’t see the
disconnection, since on their minds theirs is perfect rationalization of
their acts. However, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are enlightened by
God's wisdom and love imbedded in us, which we are called to reflect
onto all Creation.
