Comment on Trent Loos’ Article
Paul Hansen, a CVA sustainer member, sent as a comment on Trent
Loos’ article (Some
questions deserve answers):
“Trent Loos's article is a study in bad logic, fuzzy thinking,
and humanistic ethics. Those against Proposition 2 claim it would
increase the price of eggs and, thus, negatively impact the poor,
etc. If these antagonists were so concerned about the poor, why
didn't they do something about the poor before NOW? It smacks of
hypocrisy, or a disguised political attempt to continue doing
"business as usual." If the industry doesn't like factory-farm
reform for the sake of animal compassion, "let them eat eggs." Some
values supersede bottom-line profits.”
An example of the exploitation of farmed animals in confined
operations is the case of Hormel Foods.
