1. Eat Your Veggies to Get Your Protein
Protein from meat
is certainly overrated. This article explains in a clear way why it’s
easy to meet our protein requirements if we eat a variety of
plant-based foods. While in the past it was thought that meat was the
only way to get complete proteins, abundant scientific evidence shows
that plant-based foods contain all the amino-acids needed by a human
body and that eating a balanced plant-based diet fulfills all our
protein requirements. Simply put, there is no need for animal products
in a healthy human diet.

How wonderful it is that
we don’t need to rely on the suffering and death of God’s animals to
enjoy healthy, peaceful and joyful lives! Living in harmony with our
fellow Earthlings is good for all of God’s Creation!

This Week’s Famous Quote
There is no disease, bodily or
mental, which adoption of vegetable diet, and pure water has not
infallibly mitigated, wherever the experiment has been fairly tried.
~ Percy Bysshe Shelley
3. Nuts: Important Foods
in Plant-Based Diets
This excellent article explains why,
although high in calories, nuts are nutritionally healthful foods that
are an important part in plant-based diets. Nuts are great source of
protein, fats, antioxidants and many micronutrients. Their many
benefits include hunger control and reduction of chronic diseases such
as diabetes and heart-disease, aside from their incredible nutritional
value. Please visit

4. This
Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) 1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the
glory of God.
Every action can glorify God, even eating
or drinking. So it only makes sense that what we eat or drink is,
indeed, important. I can hardly imagine that eating the flesh or
secretions of an animal who suffers unnecessarily could be honoring or
glorifying to God. On the other hand, mindfully choosing foods that
bring restoration and reconciliation in God's Creation, I believe
honor and glorify God.
5. Got Diseases? Go Vegan!
Abundant scientific evidence indicates that animal products (meat,
dairy and eggs) contribute to the increasing rates of many of the
chronic diseases that plague the Western world. Also, scientific
evidence indicates that a well-balanced plant-based diet can help
prevent these diseases and many times also reverse them. Take a look
at the preventive and healing properties of plant-based diets on
heart-disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and cancer:

Plant-based diets bring healing, restoration and
reconciliation to God’s Creation, and since we have been blessed with
an amazing variety and abundance of plant-based foods there really is
no reason to support the animal agriculture industry.
6. This Week’s Video
A year ago in Washington DC, the 2011
National Conference to End Factory Farming brought together
individuals and organizations representing the animal protection,
health, and environmental movements that want factory farming to come
to an end. In order to celebrate the anniversary of this conference,
Farm Sanctuary is releasing videos of the Conference proceedings for
free public viewing.
