1. Good News!
Rhode Island has become the ninth state to
pass farm animal protection legislation. Gov. Lincoln Chafee signed
into law S.2191/H.7180 that prohibits the extreme confinement of
breeding pigs and veal calves in small crates, and the unnecessary and
inhumane practice of cattle tail docking.

Little by little ethics and compassion are replacing cruelty and
greed. If we want this world to be a peaceful and joyous one, we need
to look at all of God’s creatures as our Earthly neighbors who have
the right to be free of exploitation just as we do.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
It is not a “personal choice” when you are eating my friends and you
are ruining my world. When you made your “personal choice” did you ask
the animal if you could confine, torture, and murder him or her? When
you made your “personal choice” did you ask me if I mind all your
pollution and devastation?

Education teacher
3. Protecting the Feminine in Us
Adopting a plant-based diet is to stand for all those abused
female farm animals who are brutally exploited for their eggs and
milk, and ultimately killed. Their life is full of suffering and
grieving. They are routinely raped so they can be inseminated and
their babies are taken away to be killed or to live a life of abuse
before their meet their death.

We deaden our
compassion and sensitivity when we support the exploitation of God’s
animals. Women, especially, should immediately oppose the horrifying
acts of cruelty that female animals are subjected to. We would not
want to be raped or to be confined… We would not want our milk to be
stolen from us… But more importantly, we would never want our babies
to be taken away from us. Indeed, being vegan is to stand for all
those tortured mothers and babies who have no voice without us.
4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are afflicted in every way, but
not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not
forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
Many times, as
advocates of God’s creatures, we may feel alienated or even attacked.
However, the progress we are making for those who have no voice is
tangible; and in spite of the opposition, deep down the faith of
Christ tells us that we are fulfilling our purpose, and helping bring
peace and reconciliation to Earth.
5. It’s Not All About the Money
Would you like to know how much Big Ag spends promoting animal
products vs the budget of animal advocacy group targeting them?
Please
visit
Meat Industry Advertizing to visualize the scale of the difference
between the dollars spent on promoting meat and the dollars spent on
the advocacy of farm animals. In spite of the huge difference, it’s
clear that consumers are getting informed, slowly but steadily, on the
reality behind animal agriculture:

6. This Week’s Video: Mercy
For Animals New Undercover Video
A new Mercy For Animals
undercover video shows egregious acts of cruelty at Christensen Farms,
a Walmart pork supplier. Among many things, the video clearly shows
pregnant pigs confined to filthy, metal gestation crates so small they
are unable to even turn around or lie down comfortably, workers
slamming conscious piglets headfirst into the ground and leaving them
to slowly suffer and die, workers ripping out the testicles and
slicing off the tails of piglets without the use of any painkillers
and Sick and injured pigs with severe, bleeding wounds or infections
left to suffer without veterinary care.

the video please visit:

It’s important to note
that these acts of blatant cruelty are considered standard procedure
in factory farms and by no means is this video an exception, but
instead the horrifying reality that God’s animals suffer daily.
