1. The Last Battery Cage Hen in Britain Is Set Free

Any step toward alleviating suffering and promoting compassion honors God. Liberty, just like any other farmed animal, is the product of God's love and creativity; and by exploiting her or any other of His/Her creatures we are deviating from Jesus' teachings of compassion, mercy and love. Just in the U.S. there are more than 280 million hens confined in battery cages. It's our hope that consumers stop supporting the egg industry, a very abusive one.

3. Sad News: Supreme Court Overturned California Law Mandating Humane Treatment of Downed Farmed Animals
A California state law mandating "humane treatment" of downed livestock headed for the slaughterhouse -- that became effective in 2009, following shocking undercover video released by the Humane Society -- was unanimously overturned Monday by the Supreme Court. "This is a deeply troubling decision, preventing a wide range of actions by the states to protect animals and consumers from reckless practices by the meat industry, including the mishandling and slaughter of animals too sick or injured to walk," said Wayne Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States. "The fact is, Congress and the USDA have been in the grip of the agribusiness lobby for decades, and that's why our federal animal handling and food safety laws are so anemic. Although not entirely surprising, the Supreme Court decision comes as a shock to those of us who still held hope in regards to the treatment of downed animals. Very sadly, this decision leaves these poor animals once again at the mercy, or abuse, of the animal agriculture industry, which would apply any kind of torturous techniques to God's animals in order to get them moving for profit.
I believe this is an example of why consumers have the power to effectively protect God's farmed animals without having to expect government officials, or even worse the animal agriculture industry, to show consideration to farmed animals. All the consumer has to do is to stop supporting the meat, egg and dairy industries. It's only then when the abuse to farmed animals could finally come to an end.

This verse reminds us that God cares about all His/Her creatures including, of course, animals. Every being shares the same essence of love for we all have been created by a loving, benevolent God. As children of God, we should show love and compassion to one another.
5. “Ag-Gag” Bills Introduced in Several States
This is an excellent piece by Wayne Pacelle (CEO of The Humane Society of the United States), explaining why the “ag-gag” bills introduced in several states are taking this nation in the wrong direction by trying to conceal practices that are unethical and very abusive to farmed animals. “Ag-gag” bills are the most obvious red flag that say there’s something fundamentally wrong with the factory farming industry. When there’s nothing to hide, there’s nothing to fear. The factory farming industry has much to fear and to lose if more consumers learn every day about the horrendous and egregious practices that go on behind their walls.
