1. Feds Say Vegan Diet Best for Planet

A 571-page federal report clearly states that food is crucial to save the planet. It reads, "The organically grown vegan diet also had the lowest estimated impact on resources and ecosystem quality,”… “Beef was the single food with the greatest projected impact on the environment; other foods estimated to have high impact included cheese, milk, and seafood." Of course, the beef industry says that the federal panel, who issued the report, should not weigh on dietary recommendations.

The tremendous benefits of a vegan diet to humans, animals and the environment are undeniable. If Christians want to be good stewards of God’s creation we need to recognize it. Otherwise, we are part of the problem.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote

Truly man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds them. We live by the death of others. We are burial places.
—Leonardo Da Vinci (1452–1519)

3. Thom Hartmann Talks Vegan

Thom Hartmann, American radio host, author, former psychotherapist, entrepreneur, and progressive political commentator, writes about becoming a vegan and how crucial a plant-based diet is to save the planet. He refers to the egregious waste of resources by the animal agriculture industry, the health problems caused by the standard American diet, its impact on the environment, and world hunger.

More people are waking up to the realization that what one eats affects all of God’s creation. Let’s hope this huge tide of awakening doesn’t come too late, after we destroy the planet.

4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) 2 Corinthians 7:1

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God.

There are many temptations in this world that push us away from a path of love and compassion; however, God's wisdom is alive in us. Getting in touch with this inner-wisdom helps us live out Christ's teachings and thus reflect God's love onto all Creation.

5. Stop Eating God’s Animals to Save Water

California is going through a severe water crisis to the point that top water scientists say that CA has 1 more year left of water, unless they regulate their water usage. However, government officials are asking people to reduce their shower time and lawn watering when only 4% of CA water is used by households. The harsh reality is that 50% of the water in CA is used by the animal agriculture industry, which has resorted to tapping into underground water supplies.

Transitioning to a plant-based diet is crucial to help restore the devastation we have caused on the planet. Simply leaving God’s animals off of our plates can solve some of the most serious environmental problems like water shortages, global warming and deforestation.
