1. Plants Would Feed Us All

By 2050 we might be twice as many people on the planet and scientists are looking for ways to produce enough food to feed everyone. It turns out that just by diverting 70 percent of crops used to feed animals and use them to directly feed humans, there would be enough food to feed four billion people.

Our growing human population is pushing us back to God’s original intent: to live in harmony with all creatures and eat a plant-based diet. The earlier we do it the less suffering and devastation we cause.

3. Eat Plant-Based to Help Restore the Environment

A recent study, published in Climatic Magazine, found that vegetarians contribute much less to climate change than meat-eaters, and vegans even less than vegetarians. The reason for these differences has to do with the methane and carbon dioxide emissions produced by livestock and the growing, transporting and storing food for the animals.

We all have a part in helping restore the environment. And for this, choosing a plant-based diet is essential because producing food to feed humans invariable affects the environment. Eating is something we do every day and its implications are inescapable.

How important this message is! Without mercy there cannot be peace on Earth. Mercy must be extended to all of God’s creatures, for if we show it only to humans we cannot possibly expect harmony to reign.

FFactory farms are polluting the planet. A clear example is the spread of dangerous phosphorus algal blooms in Lake Erie due to agricultural pollution from factory farms. Of course, when God’s animals and the environment and not taken into account bad things happen. This is why, as stewards of God’s Creation, we should support industries that don’t exploit God’s animals, that contribute to disease or destroy the environment.
