1. Meat-Production Is Bad For The Planet

It is well-known that meat-production takes a toll on the planet as far as contamination, indiscriminate use of natural resources, etc. And now, once again, meat-production is on the spotlight in regards to green-house gases. According to a study published this month in the journal Climatic Change, the average meat-eater in the U.S. is responsible for almost twice as much global warming as the average vegetarian, and close to three times that of the average vegan.

Animal cruelty, diseases and the destruction of the environment should be more than enough reasons for people to consider taking a look at their choice of diet and to try to mitigate these problems in God’s Creation by transitioning to a plant-based diet.

2. Famous Quote

"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."
— John McConnell, founder of International Earth Day

3. Wadham To Serve Only Vegan Meals 5 Times A Week

Wadham, one of Oxford’s 30 different colleges, passed a motion to ban meat products and only serve vegan food for five nights a week on campus in order to fight climate change.

Indeed! The power of food reaches all of God’s Creation. Switching to a plant-based diet is one of the most, if not the most, essential step toward restoring the environment and fighting climate change.

4. Bible Verse
(RSV) James 1:22

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

God calls us to put our faith into practice throughout our daily lives. Faith without works is certainly empty and bears no fruits.

5. The Wasteful and Cruel Fishing Industry

The devastation and waste related to the fishing industry are appalling. About 20 percent of all fish caught by U.S. commercial fisheries is considered "by-catch," or unwanted fish, which translates into approximately $1 billion thrown overboard each year.

Billions of sentient beings are killed unnecessarily in horrible ways by the fishing industry. This industry also creates havoc in the oceans but destroying habitats and decimating species. Therefore, supporting the fishing industry goes against sustainability and compassion.
