Breeding cows in today’s modern agriculture are very abused animals who are constantly kept pregnant and their babies taken away either shortly after birth or just a few months later. They suffer intensely by the separation and they grieve much like a human mother would do. However, this article tells the story of Granny, a breeding cow who ends up in a sanctuary and delivers a calf whom she is allowed to keep forever.

Cows and other animals are endowed with strong motherly and nurturing instincts. By not allowing these loving mothers to nurture and take care of their babies we cause them both much pain and suffering, and we also go against God’s intentions since it’s Him/Her who created them to have a tight bond with their babies.

3. There Is No Happy Meat

Humans tend to justify their actions, even horrific one, with many excuses. One such excuse was the "happy meat" one used by a pig farmer, Bob Comis, until the weight of having sent to slaughter 2,000 "happy pigs" was too much to bear.

Indeed, regardless of how God's animals are treated the fact is that most humans don't need to have animals killed for food. Farmed animals die for profit, taste and convenience; hardly good excuses.

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them; and those who are ill-treated, since you also are in the body.

Farmed animals are our prisoners. They cannot escape suffering and death in our hands. They are ill-treated on a daily bases, unable to even express their most basic God-given instincts and drives. When they suffer, we suffer. We reap what we sow.

5. The Chicken Industry: Abuse and Contamination

The NNC Animal Welfare Guidelines for the humane treatment of chickens are simply deplorable. Mutilations without anesthesia, overcrowding, overuse of antibiotic and other drugs, pathogens in the chicken’s flesh, high levels of ammonia in chicken sheds, etc. are examples of what this industry considers common and acceptable.

What is common and acceptable for the poultry industry should appall every one of us, especially those who believe that we should not abuse God’s animals or pollute God’s Creation. Nine billion chickens suffer unimaginable abuse and pain in order for the chicken industry to make profit and for consumers to enjoy the taste of their flesh and eggs. These reasons are simply not good enough.

6. This Week’s Video: New Undercover Investigation at a Turkey Farm

A new undercover investigation by the animal advocacy groupMercy For Animals Canadain Bright, Ontario, at Hybrid Turkeys --a turkey factory farm owned by the second-largest turkey producer in the world—shows egregious animal cruelty including:

workers punching, throwing, kicking, and beating turkeys

workers crushing the spines of turkeys, and bashing in their heads with metal rods and shovels

turkeys with open wounds, rotting eyes, and festering infections, left to suffer without proper veterinary care

birds bred to grow so quickly they became crippled under their own weight

Factory farms are hell for God’s animals; and to those animals humans are the devil. Do we want other creatures to fear and tremble in our presence or do we want them to feel God’s love we are able to reflect? Our essence is one of love and it is up to each of us to choose to embrace this loving nature or ignore it with devastating consequences at every level: spiritually, physically, socially, psychologically, etc.
