1. Plant-Based Eating is Ethical Eating
This is an eye-opening video and short blog about the atrocities to which animals raised for food are subjected even in those countries, such as the U.K., where animal welfare standards are considered more progressive. In short: eating animals is eating atrocities, and not eating them is an ethical imperative.

Plant-based eating doesn’t taste as great as eating animal products. It tastes much better! When we adopt a plant-based diet we no longer eat the callousness, suffering, cruelty and terror involved in raising them for food, but instead we eat foods that nourish our bodies as well as our souls.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote
"He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."
- Immanuel Kant

3. Abuse, Killing and Waste
Part of most people’s food in our society is the flesh, eggs or milk from farmed animals. Many times, the flesh or secretions of these very abused sentient beings goes to waste. In this blog readers can grasp the amount of wasted animal products in the U.S. that really puts a spin to the phrase “adding insult to injury”.

God’s farmed animals are tortured and killed for food that is really not necessary in a balanced diet. But, if on top of abusing and killing these animals the products made from them end up in a landfill, their suffering and death are even more unnecessary, unethical and cruel. Waste, in itself, goes against being good stewards of God’s Creation.

4. This Week’s Bible Verse
"An interesting objection to adopting a plant-based way of eating that many Christians rely on is the saying by Jesus that “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man” (Matthew 15:11). This is often interpreted as giving us permission to eat anything we like and instructing us instead to be mindful of our speech. By now it should be clear that this objection misses the point entirely.
When we order a chicken or a cheeseburger at a deli, restaurant, or market, that is the moment that we engage in violence and cause “murders,” “thefts,” and suffering to defenseless animals and disadvantaged people. At that moment we are like the general who gives an order to kill someone in a faraway country; though he never sees the blood or hears the scream, he is nevertheless responsible for the killing."
~ Dr. Will Tuttle, author, The World Peace Diet

5. Film Review: The Ghosts in Our Machine
The Ghosts in Our Machine is a powerful documentary that follows photographer Jo-Anne McArthur for a year as she documents the exploitation of animals in slaughterhouses, fur farms, and research labs.  The movie premiered already in Toronto and is being screened throughout Canada; it is set to debut in the U.S. in November in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and other cities. The Ghosts in Our Machine is truly an inspiring film that gives voice to victimized animals in our society.

God's animals are voiceless unless we become their voice. We can do so by choosing a compassionate lifestyle that reflects God's love for all Creation. Eating a plant-based diet is an important part of a compassionate lifestyle.

6. This Week’s Video
Listen to Wayne Pacelle, CEO of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) explain why factory farming is clearly an abuse of power.
