1. Taco Bell Emphasized on ‘Protein’ and
Avoids the Term ‘Meatiness’
People nowadays don’t
equate the word “meat” with healthfulness; therefore, Taco Bell
announced that they are making emphasis on “protein” rather than on
“meatiness.”

Eating God’s animals is becoming less appealing than ever before.
It’s not surprising those food companies such as Taco Bell that rely
on animal products to make profit are forced to change their tactic.
However, the exploitation of animals raised for food can no longer be
hidden and at the same time the health benefits of a plant-based diet
are learned by more people every day.

3. Red Meat Consumption May be Linked to
Type 2 Diabetes
According to a new study published in
June in JAMA Internal Medicine eating red meat over time is associated
with a higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes, which in the most
common type of diabetes. "Our results confirm the robustness of the
association between red meat and T2DM (Type 2 Diabetes) and add
further evidence that limiting red meat consumption over time confers
benefits for T2DM prevention," wrote the authors, who were led by Dr.
An Pan, a researcher at the National University of Singapore.

We are what we eat! Many chronic diseases, such as type 2
diabetes, may be prevented or reversed by showing compassion to God's
animals, and therefore, not eating them. Compassion and mercy are
certainly healing.
4. This Week’s Bible Verse
For Jesus preached, For I was gave me food.… [A]s hungry and you
Jesus you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it
to me (Matt. 25:35, 40 RSV). Yet, while tens of millions of
people die annually from starvation--related causes and close to a
billion suffer from malnutrition, 37 percent of the world’s harvested
grain is fed to animals being raised for slaughter; in the United
States, the figure is 66 percent.
Only a fraction of what
chickens, pigs, and other animals eat makes them grow edible
flesh—most is needed to simply keep them alive or to grow body parts
that people don’t eat. Consequently, farmed animals consume much more
food than they produce. Converting plant foods to meat wastes 67–90
percent of the protein, up to 96 percent of the calories, and all of
the fiber. Because land, water, and other resources are limited, the
world can support many more vegetarians than meat eaters. As worldwide
demand for meat has grown, the net effect is that the world’s poor
have become increasingly unable to afford food of any kind.
5. Veganism Rising in China
Even in China where eating meat is considered a sign of high status,
more Chinese are adopting a plant-based diet. They recognize that veg
foods are better for the environment and better for our health.

in the U.S.:

It’s fantastic to learn that an increasing number of people in
China are choosing more compassionate, healthier and more sustainable
foods. Regardless of people’s faith, the fact that more people are
adopting plant-based diets is good for all of God’s Creation.
