1. Vegan Diet Good for the Planet!
The writing is on the
wall: unless humanity moves away from a meat and dairy-based diet much
suffering and misery will continue to befall on the planet and its
inhabitants. The environmental devastation caused by the animal
agriculture industry is indisputable, as well as its contribution to
poverty and hunger.

non-vegetarian diets, say researchers: "We have to drastically cut
consumption of meat and dairy":

It’s very clear that the
transition to a vegan diet is a survival imperative at every level,
including at the spiritual one. Our choice of diet reflects our Faith
because it lets us put into practice compassion, mercy and love for
all of God’s Creation.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
"We have forgotten how to be
good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures
do."
- Barbara Ward, Only One Earth
3. Ag-Gag Bills Failing Miserably
Ag-gag bills are becoming
a thing of the past. Just this year, 11 of them have been defeated
showing that people want more transparency in regards to how animals
are raised for food; something the animal-based agriculture industry
is incapable of doing.

As Ocean Robbins says, “People
are tired of being tired and sick of being sick.” People are waking up
to the realization that raising God’s animals for food is a sickening
system for humans and animals, and destructive to the environment.
This is why it is no surprise ag-gag bills have backfired and are
miserably failing. This is good news for all of God’s Creation.
4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV)
Colossians 3:14
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in
perfect harmony.
If we truly love God and God's Creation,
then we should try to alleviate suffering and violence all around us,
promoting harmony and joy.
5. Deforestation in Paraguay Threatens Medicinal Plants
Livestock and soy crops (largely devoted to feeding cattle) are
largely responsible for the vast deforestation taking place in
Paraguay. One of the terrible consequences is the loss of medicinal
plants that are essential to Paraguayan culture and the health of its
inhabitants.

The animal-based agriculture is unsustainable and destructive,
and it threatens the survival of many species on Earth, including our
own. Moving towards a plant-based diet is by far one of the best
choices we can make for the whole planet and all its inhabitants.
Embracing a plant-based diet helps us be good stewards of God’s
Creation.
6. This Weeks Video: Amazon Deforestation: Timelapse
Explore a global timelapse of our planet, constructed from Landsat
satellite imagery. The Amazon rainforest is shrinking at a rapid rate
to provide land for farming and raising cattle. Each frame of the
timelapse map is constructed from a year of Landsat satellite data,
constituting an annual 1.7-terapixel snapshot of the Earth at 30-meter
resolution. The Landsat program, managed by the USGS, has been
acquiring images of the Earth's surface since 1972. Landsat provides
critical scientific information about our changing planet.
