1. “Meatless Monday” Approved in San Diego District Schools
The San Diego Unified School District Board of Education has approved
"Meatless Monday" starting this Fall. Due to the high obesity rates in
children and the health benefits of plant-based diets school officials
support the decision to offer kids tasty, healthy foods and therefore
a good start in regards to eating habits.
"Meatless Monday" is
spreading!! Compassion, healthfulness, heartfulness, joyfulness and
peace spread easily because they align with our essence.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
“When we are drawn toward a
plant-based way of eating, it is in no way a limitation on us; rather
it is the harmonious fulfillment of our own inner seeing. At first we
think it’s an option we can choose, but with time we realize that it’s
not a choice at all but the free expression of the truth that we are.
It is not an ethic that we have to police from outside, but our
own radiant love spontaneously expressing, both for ourselves and for
our world. Caring is born on this earth and lives through us, as us,
and it’s not anything for which we can personally take credit. It is
nothing to be proud of.”
~ Dr. Will Tuttle, author,
The World Peace Diet
3. Live Poultry Contamination
According to
the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), live poultry is the culprit
infecting 224 people so far, across 34 states, with Salmonella
typhimurium. It seems the people who got sick had come in contact with
live chicks, ducklings and other live young poultry purchased from
feed stores and sourced from mail-order hatcheries.

What
can be expected from the egregious and unsanitary conditions in which
God’s animals are raised and treated for meat, egg and milk
production? Just the mere fact that these animals are shipped by mail
live throughout the country as if they were mere commodities should be
a big red flag in regards to how broken the human-animal bond is.
4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God. I am exalted among the nations, I
am exalted in the earth!"
Let's take a break from our hectic
lives and be still to feel the joyfulness and love that permeates all
of God's Creation!
5. Lower Health Premiums for
Vegetarians
Vegetarians suffer a fraction of the rate of
chronic diseases that meat-eaters do. That’s why the AFI insurance
agency in the U.K. will be offering a Vegetarian Term Life policy to
reward non meat-eaters with lower premiums.

It’s
time to recognize that people who avoid animal products are generally
healthier; and that therefore, should be pay lower premiums as far as
health insurances go. Let’s hope this incentive is offered elsewhere
in the world soon.
6. This Weeks Video: Shattering the Myths
of Eating Vegan
Many Latinos in the U.S. are dealing with the
typical chronic diseases that plague Western societies, such as
obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Eddie Garza, campaign manager for
