1. Pig Waste in Seafood
According to a new report, some
seafood sold in the U.S. coming from Asia is raised on pig feces and
crawling with flies. Seemingly, it’s common practice in some parts of
Asia to feed fish pig and geese waste, which according to Michael
Doyle, director of the Center for Food Safety at the University of
Georgia; it is an unsafe practice because the manure may be
contaminated with salmonella.

The animal agriculture industry goes to great lengths in order to
produce massive amounts of food the cheapest way as possible.
Invariably, God’s animals are turned into commodities and the health
of consumers is put at risk. Raising animals for food leaves no room
for ethics and compassion.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
How could it ever be to our purpose to rob another living being
of his or her purpose?

3. To
Live Longer, Live With Compassion
If you want to add nearly a
decade more to your life-span, then switch to a plant-base diet!
Abundant scientific evidence shows unequivocally that a well-balanced
plant-based diet decreases the risk of all those chronic diseases that
plague our society and kill most people: heart disease, obesity,
cancer, diabetes, etc.

We reap what we sow. It
only makes sense that if we sow disease, suffering and death we reap
disease, suffering and death. As Dr. Will Tuttle, author of “The World
Peace Diet”, rightly points out, the same chronic diseases we cause on
God’s farmed animals (obesity, hear disease, osteoporosis, anxiety and
depression, cancer, etc.) are the same diseases that we see occurring
the most in our culture.
If we want to stop this insane cycle
of violence, disease and death we simply must live with compassion.
It’s not rocket science… it’s our inner-most essence.
4.
This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Genesis 1:20-23
And God
said, "Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let
birds fly above the earth across the firmament of the heavens." So God
created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves,
with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every
winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And
God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the
waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." And there
was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
The oceans
and its inhabitants are the result of God’s infinite love and
creativity. As stewards of God’s Creation we have the privilege and
responsibility to be healers, peacemakers and restorers.
5. Americans Live Longer, Just Not Healthier
It’s not surprise
that life expectancy is the U.S. has increased; however. I call this a
blessing in disguise. People might live longer, but surely sicker.
Advances in medicine and technology have allowed physicians to
diagnose diseases earlier and keep people alive longer in spite of
their health issues. Lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet are the
cause of these preventable diseases that sooner or later most
Americans suffer: cancer, heart-disease, obesity and diabetes.

How is
it honoring to God if we live longer but with ongoing health problems
and less vitality? Should it surprise us that the health of people in
general has deteriorated to a point that a great percentage of
Americans are on prescription medications? After all, don’t we cause
unimaginable suffering, sickness and health to God’s animals? Once
again, we reap what we sow.
