1. More Fruits and More Veggies Make You Happier
Yet, another study on the effects of food on mood and mental disorders indicates that consuming more plant-based foods is good for our emotional and psychological well-being. Although diet has not been a major focus by psychologists and psychiatrists, the growing evidence that what we eat does not only affect our physical health, but also our psyches, can no longer be ignored.

Please visit More Fruit, More Veggies, More Happy:
It seems natural that what we eat affects our well-being in every aspect. After all, food becomes part of our cells… food becomes us. Eating God’s animals is, in essence, eating fear, pain and suffering. On the other hand, eating plant-based foods infuses our bodies and souls with love, compassion, empathy and joy.

2. This Week’s Famous Quote
“I believe every creature is born with the inalienable right of freedom. Freedom to live its life in its natural environment, with its kind, making its decisions. I believe the law should prohibit the enslavement of non humans for any reason whatsoever.”
~ Jim Morris, vegan professional bodybuilder

3. John Salley on Being Vegan
More athletes every day realize that switching to a plant-based diet is a great way to improve fitness and health while also being compassionate and ethical. A great example is John Salley, a former NBA star who's played with the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers. In this interview, he shares what it means for him to be vegan and what are the greatest misconceptions surrounding plant-based diets.

Please visit 5 Question: Former NBA star John Salley touts the vegan life:

Kudos for Salley who chooses to be a great example! Let’s hope that more pro-athletes like him realize what a great positive impact they could have on God’s Creation by adopting a plant-based and therefore becoming role models for those who want to be good stewards of their bodies and of all Creation.

4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Proverbs 17:22
A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.
Following Christ's teachings of compassion, mercy and love takes us in a journey where we see a lot of suffering but also healing and reconciliation. It's very important, I think, to witness God's love for all Creation with a joyful heart, which in turns helps our message transcend more.

5. What’s in Pork?
A new study by Consumer Reports indicates the appalling reality of food safety. After testing 198 samples of raw grocery store pork loins and ground pork, it found that 69 percent of the samples were contaminated with Yersinia enterocolitica. What is even more troubling is that these bacteria are resistant to most common antibiotics due to the overuse of antibiotics in factory farmed animals.

Please visit Great: Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria on Your Pork Chop:
What can be expected of an industry that seemingly only cares about profit and not the safety of their products? And why should any Christian support an industry that abuses God’s animals and puts their consumers at risk? Christians are called to be mindful, loving and compassionate. Our choics of diet invariably puts our faith and actions through a test. If our choice of diet is not aligned with our values and beliefs then sadly we are not living out the faith of Christ.

6. This Week’s Video: Honoring God’s Creation
The CVA has a powerful 26-min video available in DVD and VHS titled “Honoring God's Creation”.
