1. Animals Have Consciousness
"On July 7, 2012, an
international panel of neuroscientists at the Francis Crick Memorial
Conference on Consciousness in Human and non-Human Animals signed the
Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness, which states that animals have
consciousness and that humans are not unique in having consciousness.
The Declaration's main author has since gone vegan." The Declaration
can be downloaded

It’s
fantastic that science is helping people look at God’s animals under a
different light. Hopefully, all this new information will help expose
the exploitation of sentient beings and encourage people to be
compassionate and merciful. The bottom line is truly that we have all
been created by a loving God, that we therefore share the same essence
of love and that we are connected through this web of love.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
"Compassion is ethical
intelligence: it is the capacity to make connections and the
consequent urge to act to relieve the suffering of others."
~
Dr. Will Tuttle, The World Peace Diet
3. The Virtual
Gestation Crate
Of course, it’s impossible to fully understand
what it must be like for a female pig to be imprisoned in a gestation
crate for 2.5 years of her life. However, a new tool exists that helps
the viewer to imagine to some extent the misery, terror, frustration
and pain that sows experience in gestation crates.
Please visit The Visual Gestation Crate:

Experiencing "The Visual
Gestation Crate" was to say the least, incredibly sad. Moreover, these
gestation crates are in filthy buildings, where workers empty their
anger by beating and humiliating these animals, where sows spend the 4
months of their pregnancies, and where they suffer horrors few of us
can ever imagine. Gestation crates make a mockery of God’s love for
sows.
4. This
Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Proverbs 11:3
The integrity
of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous
destroys them.
The animal agriculture industry is not
particularly known for its integrity but for its deceiving nature.
Supporting it makes us accomplices of their deceit and destruction on
God’s Creation.
5. Cruelty to Animals Doesn’t Stop There
It seems that those who abuse animals rarely stop there, but go
onto abusing humans. This is exactly what Professor Eleonora Gullone,
Associate Professor in Psychology at Monash University, Australia,
believes. She says that “Almost without exception, the perpetrators of
animal cruelty crimes are the same individuals who carry out
aggressive and violent acts including assault, partner and child
abuse. Thus, animal cruelty crimes should be treated with the same
seriousness as crimes against humans. Moreover, the punishments should
reflect their severity."

It makes sense
that once a person deadens his/her sensitivity toward the pain caused
to God's animals, this person also deadens his/her sensitivity toward
the pain caused to people. On the other hand, the more we love and
respect other creatures, the more we will respect and love human life.
