1. Why UTI’s and Chicken Might be Linked
A steady
increase of urinary tract infections in women within the past 3 years
has raised concerns about its cause. The culprit, E.coli, has been
found; however, the source of this strain was unknown until recently.
Research studies in the United States, Canada, and Europe have found
close genetic matches between resistant E. coli collected from human
patients and resistant strains found on chicken or turkey sold in
supermarkets or collected from birds being slaughtered. According to
researchers, chicken, which is the low-cost, low-fat protein that
Americans eat more than any other meat is the link that allows
resistant bacteria to move to humans.

How is it possible to go on exploiting animals so mercilessly and
expect no consequences? Surprisingly, this is what humanity has been
doing and continues to do in spite of the warnings. So, if we want to
create a healthy, peaceful and joyous world, we need to spread with
warm hands the same onto other beings. Allowing God’s animals to live
healthy, peaceful and joyous lives is probably the easiest but most
important task we have as stewards of God’s creation. After all, what
we sow, we also reap.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
In addition to kidney failure, plant based diets can help prevent and
treat diabetes, prevent and treat COPD, prevent and treat arthritis,
prevent and treat cancer, prevent and treat heart disease, and prevent
and treat obesity.

3. Eggs
Are Not Part of a Healthy Diet
A new study indicates that egg
consumption is nearly as harmful to heart health as smoking tobacco.
The results of the study suggest that egg consumption should be
avoided especially by people at risk of cardiovascular disease.

Eggs are harmful
to all of God’s Creation. The increase risk of heart disease, and the
egregious exploitation of egg-laying hens and their chicks should be
more than enough reasons to avoid egg consumption. After all, we are
called to take care of their bodies, temples of the Holy Spirit, and
to treat all creatures with mercy.
4. This Week’s Bible
Verse
Proverbs 19:9
“A false witness will not go
unpunished, and he who utters lies will perish.”
It seems
clear to me that the animal agriculture industry’s fate is, hopefully,
to disappear. After all, deceiving and lying to consumers is part of
the reason why they are able to exist.
5. The Threat of a
Swine Flu Pandemic
Factory farms seem to be the perfect
vessels to incubate new viral strains. Just this year, the Centers for
Disease Control (CDC) has announced a sharp increase in cases of
swine-origin influenza (H3N2v), better known as "swine flu", from only
12 cases last year to at least 224 cases since mid-July. The threat of
a pandemic is real, especially if this virus becomes capable of
spreading from human to human.

Factory farms are creating havoc on this planet. Eating God’s
animals not only does it kill them but it destroys all of God’s
Creation. We are approaching a point of no return unless we change our
ways, soften our hearts and follow our inner-most values and beliefs.
The transition to a plant-based diet is an unavoidable step in order
to bring healing, restoration and reconciliation.

In this
short video Dr. Greger explains why a plant-based diet is very
effective at reducing cancer rate.
