1. Think Twice
before Drinking Cow’s Milk
More and more scientific evidence
points toward the fact that cow’s milk is only good for calves. Mark
Bittman explains well the negative effects of dairy on a human diet
emphasizing on the unhealthy aspects of it (lactose intolerance,
allergies, high cholesterol, etc.) but also touching on the
environmental and inhumane aspects of raising dairy cows.

Humans are the only species
on Earth that drinks milk past infancy and from another species. Dairy
products are not necessary in a healthy, balanced diet so to ingest
products that sicken many people, exploit and kill billions of cows
and their calves every year and cause environmental degradation is
simply put, dishonoring to God.
2. This Week’s
Famous Quote
It is a great delusion to suppose that flesh of any kind is
essential to health.
William Booth -- Founder of the Salvation Army, General (1829-1912)
3. Human-Animal Infectious Diseases on the
Rise
According to a study by the International
Livestock Research Institute, animal-borne diseases are responsible
for 2.5 billion cases of human illness and 2.7 million deaths a year.
Unfortunately, the rising demand for animal products is expected to
increase the spread of human-animal infectious diseases.

Eating God’s animals or their by-products brings misery and
death to all of creation. Just imagine how many people could be saved
just by transitioning to a plant-based diet! Human-animal infectious
diseases would disappear; the rate of most chronic diseases such as
cancer, diabetes and heart-disease would plummet; hunger would be a
thing of the past; and billions of God’s creatures would be spared of
a life of misery and of a brutal death. There is no need to kill
animals for food. Transitioning to a plant-based diet helps us to
bring healing and reconciliation while celebrating the wonderful gift
of life!
4. Proverbs 10:28 (RSV)
This Week’s Bible Verse
The hope of the righteous ends in gladness,
but the expectation of the wicked comes to nought.
I think
this verse emphasizes that as long as we walk with God, spreading
His/Her essence of love, our hope of a better world we’ll be rewarded.
Because when we give love, joy and peace, we also receive joy, love
and peace.
5. More Light Shed on Soy Consumption
Much has been said unfairly about soy, but thankfully, many of the
myths surrounding it have been debunked. Now, a new report in the July
edition of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that women
previously diagnosed with breast cancer have less risk of cancer
recurrence if they consume soy products.

Recurrence :

Of course it’s important to eat a balanced diet, which includes a
variety of fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. Having said that, it’s
great to learn and share with others that soy is a healthy food in
plant-based diets!
