1. Third Largest US Meat Recall in History
Cargill Inc. is currently involved in the third largest meat recall
in U.S. history with nearly 36 million pounds (16,300 metric tons) of
ground turkey being pulled off shelves after a salmonella outbreak was
linked to one death and more than 70 illnesses in 26 states. To learn

The factory farming industry doesn’t have in mind how to produce
healthy, sustainable foods, but instead how to make more money by
brutally exploiting God’s animals and deceiving consumers into believing
the lies that have been perpetuated for decades.
However, the sad
reality is that factory farming is a system than thrives on secrecy and
unethical practices, thus causing unimaginable suffering to farmed
animals while putting our health at risk and destroying the environment.
Hopefully, due to this massive meat recall, more people will realize
that eating meat is not only not necessary, but risky and
uncompassionate.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
"Here are the facts. Coronary artery disease is the leading killer of
men and women in Western civilization. In the United States alone, more
than half a million people die of it every single year. Three times that
number suffer known heart attacks. And approximately three million more
have "silent" heart attacks, experiencing minimal symptoms and having no
idea, until well after the damage is done, that they are in mortal
danger. In the course of a lifetime, one out of every two American men
and one out of every three American women will have some form of the
disease.”
~ Caldwell Blakeman Esselstyn Jr., M.D., (born December 12, 1933),
American physician, author, and former Olympic rowing champion.

What a great way to honor God and take care of our bodies, temples of
the Holy Spirit, by adopting a compassionate, ethical, nutritious and
delicious plant-based diet! Websites like the one above make this
journey easier for us by offering valuable information that can be put
into practice easily.
4. This Week's Bible Verse
(RSV) Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is
no law.
This is one of the clearest verses on how we should live our lives!
If our actions are motivated by love and kindness for sure we would not
approve or support the unnecessary exploitation of God's farmed animals.
A plant-based diet helps us show love, kindness, peace and compassion to
all Creation.
5. Healthful Eating Tip
Eat a dark green vegetable (broccoli, spinach, kale, collard greens)
at least three times a week. These nutritional powerhouses are packed
full of vitamins such as calcium and iron. On the run or hate spinach?
Try drinking your greens in a smoothie: add some spinach or kale to your
fruit smoothie and drink up to your health!
