1. A Food Manifesto
Mark Bittman, author, New York Times Opinion columnist and Times
magazine’s food columnist, has been urging Americans to change the way
we eat for decades. In this article, he concisely explains why the
highly processed food we eat, commonly laden with animal products, is a
recipe for disaster for our health, animals and the environment. He
recognizes that government subsidies are part of the problem but also
puts the responsibility on the consumer. Bittman rightly asserts that a
plant-based diet is the most effective way to restore the health of the
planet and its inhabitants. To read the article please visit
A Food Manifesto for the Future
There is no need for more evidence indicating that good stewardship
of God's Creation should lead us to adopt a plant-based diet. Exposing
the victimization of God's animals, the destruction of the environment
and the deterioration of our health due to diets based on animal
products helps more people understand why the choice of diet is of
paramount importance. We can do this by our example; that is showing
compassion, mercy, love and respect for all of God's Creation.
2. Famous Quote
"It is increasingly obvious that environmentally sustainable
solutions to world hunger can only emerge as people eat more plant foods
and fewer animal products. To me it is deeply moving that the same food
choices that give us the best chance to eliminate world hunger are also
those that take the least toll on the environment, contribute the most
to our long-term health, are the safest, and are also, far and away, the
most compassionate towards our fellow creatures."
~ John Robbins, author of Diet for a New America and The
Food Revolution
3. Meat and Global Warming
Animal agriculture is devastating for the planet for it contributes
to global warming at alarming quantities. For example, just in Brazil
over 75% of methane and over half of deforestation come from livestock.
It is appalling that 55 billion animals are killed for food every year
around the world, and as a result, their raising has become
unsustainable. According to a new study by the UN Environment
Programme the quickest and most effective way to reduce the emission
of greenhouse gases is by transitioning to a plant-based diet, which
would have an immediate effect on climate change. To read the article

Planet?: UN says diet change will slow climate change
Christians, upon learning about the catastrophic consequences of
animal agriculture on the planet, should be the leaders in the movement
to restore the environment. We believe we have a sacred responsibility
and privilege to be good stewards of God's Creation, and thus, adopting
a plant-based diet should be imperative, aside from being a joy since it
shows compassion and love for farm animals.
4. Bible Verse - Psalm 104:10-14
“He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the
mountains. They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild
donkeys quench their thirst. The birds of the air nest by the waters;
they sing among the branches. He waters the mountains from his upper
chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work. He makes
grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-bringing
forth food from the earth."
The survival of all creatures depends on the natural world that God
created. We are called to be good stewards of it. By exploiting and
abusing our bodies, animals and the environment we are only bringing
misery to all and showing disobedience to God.
