1. Introduction of New Bill
Given the legalized abuse on farmed animals, more people are pushing
for new legislation to prevent such atrocities. Representative Jason M.
Lewis (D-Winchester) and Minority Whip Senator Robert Hedlund
(R-Hingham) have introduced a state bill named the Massachusetts
Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act that addresses the cruel and inhumane
treatment of confining farmed animals in cages where they are deprived
of their most basic standards of care. The law would prevent three of
the worst factory farm abuses: veal crates for calves, battery cages for
egg-producing hens, and gestation crates for female pigs and piglets. To

Thanks to the tireless work of animal advocates, who continuously
expose the victimization of farmed animals, more people every day are
urging their government leaders to pass new legislation in order to
alleviate the suffering of God's farmed animals. Although these laws are
crucial, it is imperative that people stop supporting the industries
that abuse these animals. The transition to a plant-based diet accords
with Jesus' message of compassion, mercy and love.

"Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality."

3. Sea Shepherd’s Victory
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society ships have been actively trying to
stop Japanese ships from hunting whales for years and this year it seems
that their persistence has paid off -- at least for the moment. Japanese
officials have announced the temporary suspension of its annual
Antarctic whaling after repeated harassment by the conservationist
group. To read the full article please search online for

Whaling
Kudos for Sea Shepherd activists who risk their lives in order to
defend whales, God's majestic animals, who suffer slow and painful
deaths for essentially taste and profit! Being stewards of God's
Creation calls us to expose victimization of any creature and to stop
those industries that abuse them.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) 2 Timothy 1:7
"...for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of
power and love and self-control."
God gives us the strength to follow His/Her will with a heart of
love. Let's be bold and courageous!
5. “Welfarist” Approach Works
Welfarists and Abolitionist supporters have long argued as to which
approach is more effective in encouraging people to reduce their meat
consumption, and ideally transition to a plant-based diet. The answer
might have just arrived: two agricultural economists from prominent
American universities have published the results of the first known
study of the effects of “welfarist” reforms on consumer demand for meat.
The findings are clear and unequivocal: “As a whole, media attention to
animal welfare has significant, negative effects on U.S. meat demand.”
It causes the public to buy and eat less meat.

for "Welfarist" Reforms Cause People to Buy Significantly Less Meat
While God's animal advocates seek ultimately to stop the exploitation
of animals, welfarist campaigns seem to have more effect as far as meat
consumption goes. Although reduction of meat products is not ideal, it
definitely reduces significantly the suffering of God's farmed animals.
As advocates for all of God's Creation, we should encourage and support
any improvement in the lives of farmed animals.
