1. Vegan Diet and Omega-3s
According to a new report from the European Prospective Investigation
into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Study, women on a vegan diet have
significantly more omega-3 “good fats” in their blood, compared with
fish-eaters, meat-eaters, and ovo-lacto vegetarians in spite of zero
intake of long-chain omega-3s eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and
docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and substantially lower intake of their
plant-derived precursor alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). To read the full

Omega-3s, Compared with Fish-Eaters
More and more evidence suggests that a well-balanced plant-based diet
suffices and exceeds the nutritional requirements for good health. It is
encouraging that studies like the one above might lead people to reduce
or stop consuming animal products, which in turn would benefit all of
God's Creation: our health, animals and the environment.
2. Famous Quote
"The cause of osteoporosis is primarily diet. With all of the red
meat and poultry, seafood, cheese and eggs, the rich American diet is a
very acidic diet. That acid has to be buffered when you eat it. So the
bones dissolve and then changes take place in the kidneys that cause the
body to urinate the bones through the kidney system out into the toilet.
Sometimes bones resolidify and they form calcium kidney stones."
~ John McDougall, M.D., specializes on preventive medicine
3. Raising Vegetarian Kids
Many people realize that vegetarian diets are healthier than
meat-based diets; however, they believe that raising children on a
vegetarian diet is too hard to accomplish. This article points out that
well-balanced plant-based diets are appropriate for kids of all ages,
from infancy to teenage years. Just the knowledge of what a growing body
needs and where to find the nutrients in plant-based foods can make the
experience very enjoyable for children and parents. To read the full

vegetarian kids? Here are some pointers
Encouraging children’s innate sense of compassion and justice is
essential to make this world a better place for the generations to come.
One way is to raise them vegetarian so they learn that there is no need
to harm God’s farmed animals in order to grow strong and be healthy.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) John 6:35
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall
not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.
Jesus offers us a fulfillment that cannot be satisfied by food but by
a desire to obey our Creator. His teachings of compassion, mercy and
peace lead us to the fulfillment that our souls crave.
5. “Superbugs”
John Conly, Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Infectious
Diseases and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Centre for
Antimicrobial Resistance at the University of Calgary, Canada, discusses
the issue of the emergence of "superbugs" due to the overuse of
antibiotics in agri-business. According to Conly, the factory farming
industry uses at least 1000-fold more antibiotics in terms of absolute
tonnage compared with use in humans. This in turn enables bacteria to
become resistant to these overused antibiotics allowing them to mutate,
and thus creating "superbugs" that humans are unable to render. To read

Antimicrobial resistance: revisiting the "tragedy of the commons"
It is horrifying that the animal agriculture industry does not seem
to care about anything beyond their profit. The overuse of antibiotics
in farmed animals is a real and very serious issue that future
generations will have to face to a great extent. Being stewards of God's
Creation implies mindfulness in our choices. Choosing to adopt a
plant-based diet sends the message that we do not agree with what
factory farming is doing to God's Earth, God's animals and our health.
