1. Veg Diet Good for GEICO Employees
According to a new study published in July’s American Journal of
Health Promotion, office workers can lose weight, lower blood pressure,
and reduce absenteeism if their employer provides healthy low-fat
vegetarian meals. The study followed GEICO employees for a 22-week
period on a low-fat vegetarian diet. These participants lost about 11
pounds on average, placing them at lower risk for heart disease, high
blood pressure, and diabetes. Control group participants following
an omnivorous diet gained weight and experienced a rise in blood
pressure. To read the full article please search online for

Dramatically with Low-Fat Vegetarian Diet
A well-balanced plant-based diet can provide enormous health benefits
as well as emotional and spiritual, since it's not only healthy but
compassionate and environmentally friendly. Plant-based diets honor our
bodies and the rest of God's Creation.
2. This Week’s Famous Quote
I do not regard flesh-food as necessary for us at any stage and under
any clime in which it is possible for human beings ordinarily to live. I
hold flesh-food to be unsuited to our species. We err in copying the
lower animal world - if we are superior to it.
Mohandas Gandhi (1869-1948)
3. Huge Deli Meat Recall
Tyson Foods is recalling about 380,000 pounds (172 metric tons) of
deli meat because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes,
which could lead to listeriosis, a potentially fatal disease
characterized by fever, headache, neck stiffness and nausea. The deli
meat was shipped only to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and according to Tyson
Foods this recall is just precautionary. To read the full article please

One more reason to transition to a plant-based diet is the avoidance
of many contaminants that are common in animal products. These are
produced in such quantities and at such speed that without clear
regulation and enforcement, supervision and inspection, contamination is
meant to happen.
4. This Week’s Bible Verse
(RSV) Colossians 1:28
Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all

As Christians, we should strive with all our heart to follow Jesus'
teachings of compassion, mercy, love, peace and justice, which are the
core of our Faith.
