2. Famous Quote
He who abstains from anything animate ... will be much more
careful not to injure those of his own species. For he who loves the
genus will not hate any species of animals.
~ Porphyry (233-304)
3. India is Turning more Vegan-Friendly
According to People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India
five years ago there were about 2,000 vegans in India and today there
are 20,000. These numbers seem to be due to the raise in awareness about
the dairy industry but also to the accessibility of vegan products and
business, such as restaurants and bakeries, which in a sense challenge
the basics of the country’s dietary legacy: its obsession with milk and
other dairy products. To read the full article please search online for
Going off the milky way
It is no surprise that more people are becoming vegan once they learn
about the inherent cruelty of the dairy and egg industries. However, the
numbers are still low, compared to the total population. It is
imperative that more people learn that a vegan diet can be easy to
attain and to learn about its benefits for all Creation.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Hebrews 12:1
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and
let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,"
We are called to follow God's will with faith and confidence, doing
our best to avoid temptation. Focusing on Christ's teachings of
compassion, mercy and love helps us detangle ourselves from obstacles
and sin.
5. Veggie “Meats”
Vegetarians can enjoy tasty and healthful dishes using meat
substitutes, such as tofu and tempeh. Moreover, the great variety of
veggie meat replacers in the market has increased dramatically in the
last few years. These “meats” are prepared entirely of vegetables and
are added flavorings that mimic beef, lobster, chicken, etc.

because they thought they might miss eating meat, have now excellent

compassionate diet that honors all of God’s Creation.
