1. LOVE the Earth
How can we show that we care and want to restore the health of our
planet? By showing LOVE to it! Local, Organic, Vegetarian/Vegan
Eating are the key choices to truly show respect and reverence
for the Earth. Eating local helps save tremendous amount of fuel; eating
organic helps us keep dangerous pesticides and fertilizers out of the
air, soil and water; and eating a vegan/vegetarian diet helps us reduce
the most voluminous cruelty on animals while saving precious resources,
reduce deforestation and keep unnecessary hormones and antibiotics away
from our bodies.

Love for the Environment
Love is the driving force behind our Faith. We are made in the image
of God's love and we are called to reflect that love onto all Creation.
By doing this we actively participate in the reconciliation of God's
Creation!

Famous Quote
"What with our hooks, snares, nets, and dogs, we are at war
with all living creatures, and nothing comes amiss but that which is
either too cheap or too common; and all this is to gratify a fantastical
palate."
~ Seneca (c. 5 BC-AD 65)
3. UN Favors Plant-Based Diets
The United Nations is urging humanity to transition to a plant-based
diet in order to save resources, restore the health of the environment
and feed the whole world. Agriculture, mostly meat and dairy production,
accounts for 70% of global freshwater consumption, 38% of total land use
and 19% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. To read the full

United Nations: Global Shift Toward Vegan Diet
is Vital to Save the World
In the book of Genesis, we learn that God prescribed a plant-based
diet at the beginning of Creation; therefore, it should not surprise us
that the transition to a plant-based diet is one of the most crucial
decisions humanity can make in order to restore Earth and save its
inhabitants.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) John 15:10
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I
have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
As many of us have heard it say: Love is not just a feeling, but it
is action. Christians are called to show our love for God by being
obedient to Jesus’ teachings. For us, Christian Vegetarians, that
includes our diet. We are being obedient to God by taking care of
our bodies, alleviating animal suffering, helping restore environment
and, what I consider very important, witnessing to our neighbors through
our lifestyle of non-violence, love, respect, compassion and mercy for
God’s creation.
Let’s thank God for providing us with Jesus’ example and ministry and
pray for strength in remaining obedient (although imperfectly) and for
effectiveness in witnessing.
5. UN’s Warning: Stop Industrial Fishing
The United Nations (UN) has issued a warning saying that commercial
fishing could be destroyed within 50 years. "It is not a science fiction
scenario. It is within the lifetime of a child born today," said Achim
Steiner, head of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). In fact, according
to his colleague, Dr Pavan Sukhdev, if current fishing practices
continue the way they are today, maybe in 30 or 40 years down the line
the planet might be out of fish. The UN's recommendation calls for
up to 22 million jobs involved with fishing and up to 13 million boats
removed from service. To read the full article please search online for
UN official warns on fisheries losses
We are devastating God's Creation in spite of the many warnings
issued by experts and the planet itself. If we call ourselves good
stewards of God's Creation, then there is no room for us in supporting
industries that cause environmental destruction, animal suffering and
that promote human sickness.
