Animal Suffering

1. Got Ethics?

2. Famous Quote – Dr. Albert Schweitzer

3. Interview with Jane Velez-Mitchell

4. Bible verse – (RSV) 2 Thessalonians 1:3

5. Animal Suffering

1. Got Ethics?

Undercover video taken by animal activists at dairy farms are exposing the extensive cruelty behind this industry. The video show cows under extreme confinement, undergoing painful tail-docking without anesthesia, and treated and abused as mere machines by workers. Although these kind of abuses are seen throughout dairy factory farms, the dairy industry keeps saying --almost mechanically-- that the welfare of their cows are of tremendous importance to them and that animal advocates are just trying to discredit their industry. To read the full article and to view footage of dairy farms please search online fort Got Milk? Got Ethics? Animal Rights v. U.S. Dairy Industry

When will the callousness of the dairy industry be exposed to everyone to show its barbaric reality? There is no doubt that the animal agriculture industry has lost all notion of what is ethical, compassionate and just. Truly, the end of victimization of God's farmed animals rests on compassionate and merciful consumers who refuse to support this industry.

2. Famous Quote

“Let no one regard as light the burden of his responsibility. While so much ill-treatment of animals goes on, while the moans of thirsty animals in railway trucks sound unheard, while so much brutality prevails in our slaughterhouses ... we all bear guilt. Everything that lives has value as a living thing, as one of the manifestations of the mystery that is life.”

~ Dr. Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965), German Alsatian theologian, musician, philosopher, physician and Nobel Peace Prize winner.

3. Interview with Jane Velez-Mitchell

Journalist and TV host Jane Velez-Mitchell explains in this interview what led her to become an animal activist and an environmentalist. From overcoming addictions to becoming vegan Velez-Mitchell exposes her life so others can learn from her experience. 4. Bible Verse - (RSV) 2 Thessalonians 1:3

We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we challenge, uplift and keep one another accountable, so our faith grows. With tolerance, respect and love we ought to help one another to fulfill God's will for us.

5. Animal Suffering

The authors of this article/debate, Andrew Linzey, director of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics and a member of the faculty of theology at the University of Oxford, and Adrian Morrison, professor emeritus of behavioral neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine, defend their arguments about animal suffering. Rev. Linzey believes that animal suffering should be a moral concern and that we should strive to avoid causing suffering to animals. On the other hand, Dr. Morrison, believes that the difference between humans an animals make enough of a case to support the use of animals in order to improve the lives of humans and other species.
