1. “Enhanced” Chicken
In the last few years it has become a common practice for chicken
producers -- unknown to most consumers -- to inject fresh chicken with
saltwater as a way to keep it juicy and tasty. This process called
"enhancing" or "plumping" can make up a fifth or even more of the
chicken's weight and contain a long list of ingredients, including a
high sodium content. Kenneth McMillin, a professor of meat science at
Louisiana State University, explains that the reason to "plump" chickens
is to make up for the deficiencies that arise when growers breed
chickens for higher meat production: a dry, less tasty bird into the
market that overcooked, it could be nearly inedible. To read the full

What goes into chicken
Animal agriculture has turned into probably one of the most unethical
industries that have ever existed. The extent of manipulation, damage
and suffering it causes to humans, animals and the environment should be
seen as a serious offense towards all of God's Creation.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

3. Food’s Link to Mental Health
The Whitehall II study in the UK, which involved 3,486 participants,
shed light to the link between our mental health and the food we eat.
Scientists compared the incidence of depression among individuals
consuming a diet consisting high in fruits, vegetables and fish to that
of individuals whose diet contained a high proportion of high-fat dairy
food, processed meat, fried food, refined grains and sugar-laden
desserts. The results showed that a whole food diet was consistent with
a 26 per cent lower risk for depression while a high processed diet was
associated with a 58 percent chance of depression. To read the full

Healthy Diet May Reduce Middle-Aged Depression
The Bible, in the book of Genesis, tells us that a plant-based diet
was prescribed by God to humans. This tells us that a plant-based diet
is ideal for our mind and soul, since it wholesome and compassionate.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Mark 9:35
And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, "If any
one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."
Jesus calls us to a life or service. Sometimes, in this world where
thirst for power are overwhelming we should try to focus on showing
love, compassion and mercy toward all of God's Creation, leaving aside
our earthly desires in order to honor God.
5. The Controversy about Feeding Chicken Feces to
Cattle
A coalition of food and consumer groups that includes Consumers
Union and the Center for Science in the Public Interest has asked
the Food and Drug Administration to ban the practice of feeding
chicken feces and other poultry farm waste to cattle since this practice
may increase the risk of cows becoming infected with bovine spongiform
encephalopathy, or mad cow disease. The reason is that spilled chicken
feed and the feces contain tissue from ruminants -- cows and sheep,
among other mammals -- and the disease is transmitted through feeding
ruminant remains to cattle. To read the full article please search

Feces to Cattle
Common current practices in the animal agriculture industry such as
the above go completely against nature. They are forcing animals who are
herbivores into cannibals. Mad cow disease is one of those warnings that
should make stop and ponder about what we are doing to God's farmed
animals.
