1. Eat Local and Lower on the Food Chain
While eating local seems to be widely accepted as a good choice to
help restore the environment, eating local animal foods defeats the
purpose, since eating local has far less impact on the environment
compared with eating lower on the food chain. For example, eating
chicken, beef or other animals involves the use of grains and beans that
were transported hundreds and thousands of miles. The following are some
tips to eat lower on the food chain as well as local:
* Explore farmers’ markets.
* Seek out community-supported agriculture (e.g.
www.ladybugorganics.com).
* Take a weekend country drive to discover farm
gate sales.
* Start a backyard or balcony garden; plant herbs
on the windowsill.
* Grow garlic, kale, mustard greens, turnips,
cabbage, spinach and Swiss chard outdoors well
into winter. A hotbox or
greenhouse allows plants to flourish in colder weather.
* Walk around your neighborhood to find community
gardens.
* Choose local produce at supermarkets and request
that they buy locally.
* Buy seasonal foods in bulk and preserve or
freeze.

2. Famous Quote
"We are the most dangerous species of life on the planet, and
every other species, even the earth itself, has cause to fear our power
to exterminate. But we are also the only species which, when it chooses
to do so, will go to great effort to save what it might destroy."

3. Behind Europe’s Cheap Food
A new documentary titled Killing Fields:
the battle to feed factory farms – produced by a
coalition of pressure groups including Friends of the Earth, Food and
Water Watch and with European coordination by Via Campesina, – documents
the intensive animal farming across the EU, and how the price for this
meat is being paid across Latin America. The film shows vast plantations
of soy in Paraguay principally grown for use in intensively-farmed
animal feed, contributing to social and ecological problems, including
the forced eviction of rural communities, landlessness, poverty,
excessive use of pesticides, deforestation and rising food insecurity.

meat
Intensive animal agriculture is devastating to God’s Creation. It’s
sickening people, it’s creating hell on earth for God’s animals and it
is destroying the environment. Those who support this industry must
realize the extent of its negative effects; hopefully, before it’s too
late for the generations to come.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) 1 Timothy 2:1-2
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all
who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life,
godly and respectful in every way.
God wants us to willingly pray for peaceful world, and especially for
those who lead us. Our Creator calls all of us to actively live in peace
and respect all Creation.
5. The Power of the Ag Industry
This article deals with the tremendous lobbying power of the
agriculture industry, in this case their efforts against passing
legislation to reduce greenhouse gases in their sector. Moreover, with
the agriculture industry fully exempt from emission caps, still the farm
lobbyist look for even more, such as getting checks from the government
through small loopholes that might make it seem they reduce carbon
emissions. To read the full article please search online for
