1. Good News for Michigan’s Farmed Animals
Michigan becomes the seventh state to ban gestation crates, the fifth
to ban veal crates, and the second to ban battery cages after Michigan
Governor signed HB 5127 which phases out veal crates for calves within
three years, battery cages for laying hens and gestation crates for
breeding sows within ten years. To read the full article please search

Welfare Measure into Law
It is good news for all Creation that Michigan is taking these steps
to alleviate to a certain extent the suffering of so many farmed
animals. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement and
consumers should take a stand and not support the animal agriculture
industry.

"Empires live by numbness."

3. Roger Moore Against Foie Gras
Former 007 (James Bond) actor, Sir Roger Moore, is an advocate for
geese and ducks used to make liver patte or foie gras. He is aware, and
actively spreading the word and educating others, that these animals are
greatly abused by being confined in very small cages and forced-fed
often until their livers burst. To read the full article please search

Foie Gras
It's hard to even try to understand why humans cause so much misery
to God's animals, in this case ducks and geese. Instead of following
Jesus' teachings of compassion, mercy and justice, we turn around and
give in into our desire for profit and taste. If we strive to be good
stewards of God's Creation there is no room to support such cruelty.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Proverbs 15:23
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how
good it is!
God calls us to talk to one another in a respectful, loving way.
While many times we are tempted to respond in anger or frustration, we
should remember that timely and appropriate words spoken in gentleness
are Christ-like and more effective.
5. Moral Animals
The study of the behavior of many different non-human animals has
shed some interesting findings in the way groups of animals behave among
one another, the way sometimes humans do. The authors of this article,
Jessica Pierce, a bioethicist and writer, and Marc Bekoff, a professor
emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of
Colorado at Boulder, suggest that many animals relate to each other in a
moral manner. Especially, they claim, this behavior can be observed when
animals are engaged in playful action. To read the full article please

It’s fantastic the behavioral science is letting us take a peek at
the lives of animals in ways never imagined. While we are learning more
about them and finding that they are incredibly complex creatures, that
in so many ways resemble us, animal exploitation has not diminished, but
actually it’s at its peak. Sadly, humanity ignores the incredible
creativity of our Creator, and very conveniently, places animals at the
level of commodities.
6. The Cruelty Behind Foie Gras
