1. Good News for Vegetarian Men
Since soy foods contain phytoestrogens, which have weak estrogen-like
qualities, there was concern that they could decrease testosterone
levels in men. However, a recent meta-analysis that will be published in
the journal Fertility and Sterility showed that neither soy foods nor
isoflavone supplements from soy affect testosterone levels in men.
Researchers looked at more than 50 treatment groups from articles in
peer-reviewed journals for this meta-analysis.

2. Famous Quote
“People tend to think of breakthroughs in medicine as a new
drug, a laser, or a high-tech surgical procedure. They often have a hard
time believing that the simple choices that we make in our lifestyle,
what we eat, how we respond to stress, whether or not we smoke
cigarettes, how much exercise we get, and the quality of our
relationships and support can be as powerful as drugs and surgery. But
they often are.”
~ Dean Ornish (1953 - present), president and founder of the nonprofit
Preventive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito, California, and
Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San
Francisco.
3. Heart Health: Diet vs. Drugs
Pharmaceutical companies and plant-based diet advocates are at
opposite side of the road to heart health. Vegetarian advocates suggest
preventing heart disease with a healthy diet while pharmaceutical
companies are racing to find a drug that would reverse clogged arteries.
However, although doctors are well aware of the benefits of a plant-base
diet they think "it's futile to suggest it. They're happy if they can
talk a patient with high cholesterol into eating a little less fried
chicken and a little more baked."

4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Romans 12:4-5
For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do
not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ,
and individually members one of another.
God made each one of us different from one another, but at the same
time all of us belong to Him. The gifts that God gave us help us to
honor our Creator by fulfilling our calling.
5. Creutzfeldt-Jakob (CJD) Disease Might Be
Linked to Eating Meat
The sporadic type of Creutzfeldt-Jakob (CJD) disease has an unknown
cause for scientists; however, doctors are now asking whether sporadic
CJD could also be caused by eating meat, just as the "human form" of Mad
Cow disease. The new research focuses on the fact that CJD disease
sometimes shows up in clusters in people who live near each other. Since
this happens too often it cannot be explained only by chance, but
probably by an external factor such as meat-eating.

6. This Week’s Video
Listen to vegan pediatrician Jay Gordon, MD who talks about the
importance of daily exercise and a healthy diet, especially in our
society where animal and sugar-laden foods are readily available, and
