1. Climate Change Bill Needs Support of Farmer
and Ranchers
The climate change bill being drafted in the U.S. Senate needs the
support of farmers and ranchers that have the power to reduce greenhouse
gases by meaningful amounts. However, some large U.S. farm groups are
opposed to it as well as the National Pork Producers Council and the
National Cattlemen's Beef Association that will likely be affected by
the higher costs of gas and ethanol.

Climate Bill Won't Work Without Farm Role
Global warming is taking a toll on God’s Creation. While animal
agriculture is responsible for about 2/3 of greenhouse emissions, it
seems that this industry is unwilling to work a solution because their
greed trumps ethics. Once again, consumer has the power to take a stand
and not support industries that bring misery to humans, animals and the
environment.
2. Famous Quote
"There is a spiritual side to our connection with the planet. And
in this material world, that's anathema. It is somewhat worrying. What I
say.. it makes life. It gives us fulfilment. It makes us whole human
beings. And without it, we make mistakes. And, boy, are the leaders of
the world making mistakes at the moment."
~ Bob Brown (1944 to present), Australian politician, environmentalist,
and a green activist.
3. A Plant-based Diet for the Planet
Mr. Cornish, the writer of this article, highlights the importance of
transitioning to a plant-based diet to save the planet. In fact, he
believes that giving up eating animals is taking precedence over other
environmental or social issues. He refers to high profile celebrities as
Paul McCartney and animal activist groups, as well as new movies that
address the issue of vegetarianism.

4. Bible Verse
Joshua 1:9
“Have not I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be
terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you
wherever you go.”
Revealing injustice and victimization, and being good stewards of all
of God’s Creation requires us to be strong and courageous. Christians
can rest assured that God is our loving supporter and encourager
throughout it all.
5. Why is there Hunger in the World?
There is hunger worldwide and there have been riots emerging in many
countries where people have to fight for food. Among the major causes of
hunger worldwide is the increased diversion of corn grain and soybeans
to produce meat, while as much as 95 percent of calories are lost in the
conversion of grain and soybeans to meat.

Agriculture and Food in Crisis: An Overview
About 963 million people across the world go hunger every day
according to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United
Nations (FAO). However, just in the US 3/4 of the grain is used to feed
farmed animals. Unless we use our resources in a more efficient and
compassionate way, we are causing misery to all of God's Creation.
6. Animal Agriculture and Global Warming
Although there is still a great debate on how to curb greenhouse
gases, the evidence that animal agriculture is the greatest contributor
to global warming surpassing the global transportation sector by a
significant margin, is undeniable. The positive effects of giving up
meat even just once a week have been studied by scientists who concluded
that switching to a vegan diet has a bigger impact than trading in a gas
automobile for a hybrid. Results also show that the average American
would do less for the planet by switching to a totally local diet than
by going vegetarian one day a week.
