1. The Pig Farmer
The new “swine virus” or H1N1 has created a fear of and even disgust
for pigs in many parts of the world. These God’s animals, who are
already wrongly thought of as dirty, lazy and dumb, are actually very
smart, sensitive and clean animals.
John Robbins, author of many books including The Food Revolution,
shares a great heart-warming story of the time he met the owner of a pig
factory farm where there’s a change of heart and a good ending.

2. Famous Quote
"Ask anyone who has regular contact with animals, from farmers to pet
owners, and they will tell you that animals have personalities. Animals
are individuals"
~ Rowan Hooper, online news editor of the New Scientist, Issue 2606,
May 2007.
3. California Bill Could Help Hens from
Out-of-state
If a bill moving through the Legislature becomes law, California's
upcoming ban on small cages for egg-laying hens could possibly be
extended to out-of-state egg producers. This bill has already received
support from legislators who opposed Prop. 2 since they say it will help
California's egg industry compete with out-of-state egg producers who,
under current law, will not need to comply with Prop. 2 when its rules
take effect in 2015.

Maybe more good will come from the passing of Proposition 2 in
California. Every step towards a more compassionate and sustainable
world, no matter how small, honors and glorifies God.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Jesus teaches us to deal and confront issues or sins with love and
compassion, instead of harshness, since people listen better that way.
Sometimes, when emotions are high, we tend to forget that we can achieve
more for the glory of God if we let the Holy Spirit guide us.
5. Good News for Farmed Animals in Maine
Maine Governor John Baldacci signed legislation to become effective
on January 1, 2011 that will prohibit gestation crates and veal crates.
Thus, Main becomes the sixth U.S. State to ban the extreme confinement
of farmed animals. The others are California, Colorado, Florida, Arizona
and Oregon.

This is yet one more victory for God’s Creation! As more people
realize the unimaginable suffering that God’s animals endure in hands of
humanity for the sake of profit and taste, more will hopefully choose to
transition to a healthy and compassionate plant-based diet.
