1. Less Meat, Less Greenhouse Gases
A study by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency indicates
that cutting back on beef and pork intake could wipe $20 trillion off
the cost of fighting climate change. This prediction takes into account
farmland that is used to grow extra food to make up for the lost meat,
but that requires less area, so some will be abandoned; and at the same
time, millions of tons of the greenhouse gas methane would also be saved
every year due to reduced emissions from farms.

2. Famous Quote
"We are the most dangerous species of life on the planet, and
every other species, even the earth itself, has cause to fear our power
to exterminate. But we are also the only species which, when it chooses
to do so, will go to great effort to save what it might destroy."
~ Wallace Stegner (1909 – 1993) American historian, novelist, short
story writer, and environmentalist.
3. Veganic Agriculture Network
The Veganic Agriculture Network is a new movement in North America to
promote the production of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and cereals
without the use of artificial substances nor the use of animal products.
They promote sustainable, low-impact, plant-based farming and gardening.

4. (RSV) Romans 15:13
May the God
of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the
power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
In this world of turmoil, hope, joy and peace are vital. By trusting
God and following Jesus' teachings, the Holy Spirit guides us so we may
glorify God in our daily choices and find hope, joy and peace.
5. How to Feed the World
The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has released a plan to
feed the world without contaminating it further by making better use of
resources and cutting down on massive waste. UNEP Executive Director
Achim Steiner noted that massive amounts of cereal are fed to farmed
animals while people go hungry, that 30 million tons of fish are
discarded at sea annually, that almost one-third of all food purchased
in the United Kingdom each year is not eaten and that in the US losses
and food waste could be as high as 40-50 percent. To read the full
article please visit UNEP gives food for thought
Currently, 1/3 of the world's grains are fed to farmed animals and in
the US the figure is 2/3. There is no room for greed and waste in God's
Earth. As stewards, we need to make sure that our planet and its
inhabitants live in harmony while using resources mindfully, taking into
consideration our health, animals and the environment.
