1. Iceland to Resume Whaling
Iceland's government announced that fishermen will be allowed to
catch 100 minke whales and 150 fin whales during 2009, in spite of
international pressure.

Iceland to allow whaling in 2009
If fewer people consumed or used whale by products their demand would
decrease and there would be little or no need to hunt them. Whales, like
any other of God’s animals should live free of human exploitation.
2. Famous Quote
“All breathing, existing, living, sentient creatures should not
be slain nor treated with violence, nor abused, nor tormented, nor
driven away. This is the pure unchangeable law.”
~ Sutrakritanga (Jainism)
3. MTV to Show Veg Ads
It seems that MTV viewers are going to get exposed to the crude
reality behind factory farming. The animal advocacy group Compassion
Over Killing (COK) will run ads nationwide for five straight weeks,
offering viewers a 30-second behind-the-scenes tour inside the world of
factory farming and encouraging them to think about exactly what they’re
eating and directing them to TryVeg.com for more information.

Killing ads!!
What great news it is that more people will be exposed to the pain
and suffering that farmed animals undergo daily for the sake of taste
and profit. Hopefully, these viewers will choose compassion and adopt a
plant-based diet.
4. (RSV) 2 Peter 1:4
...by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises,
that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the
world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature.
We are made in God's image of love so we can live by Jesus' example
and escape from the earthly desires that so many times bring misery to
us and to all of God's Creation.
5. GA Bill to Hinder the Outlaw of Cages for
Farmed Animals
In an attempt to stop animal advocates to outlaw cages in factory
farms in the state of Georgia, Rep. Tom McCall introduced House Bill 529
to forestall a movement that began in California to prohibit confinement
of animals, such as chickens, hogs and calves used in veal. When asked
if he was prompted by a specific incident, McCall said, "If you look at
what California did with Proposition 2 and the problems that has caused
out there, maybe yes." Georgia is among the top states in egg production
and is No. 1 in broilers.

attempts to outlaw cages
It's seems Rep. Tom McCall needs to check his pulse as he seems to
have no heart! Sure it will be inconvenient for farmers and the state if
cages are outlawed, but the bottom and most important issue is the pain
and suffering of God's farmed animals, sentient beings, who deserve or
compassion and respect.
6. No Regard for Downer Pigs
In California, U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. O'Neill ruled in
February that pigs too weak or stressed to stand up can still be
butchered despite a state law to the contrary. Critics say that this new
ruling endangers the nation's food supply and shows complete disregard
for the suffering of these animals.

On top of the daily abuse that pigs suffer in factory farms, it is
shocking to learn that even more abuse is possible. Unless humanity is
able to show some compassion to God's animals, violence and suffering
will continue ruling our world.
