6. The “Humane” Myth
1. Even Hunters Agree: People in South Dakota,
who are used to hunting and fishing, are having a hard time
understanding the cruelty towards pigs discovered in a factory farm in
Iowa that supplies Hormel and other meat companies thanks to an
undercover video shot by PETA (http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/iowa_pigfarm_abuse2).
Workers poked pigs in the eyes with clothespins and fingers, beat
pregnant pigs, piglets deemed too small to be profitable were slammed
head first onto the concrete floor in an attempt to kill them, although
some lingered alive for more than 12 minutes after the impact, and
pregnant pigs were denied of water for several days, among other
cruelties. One employee is shown yelling, “I hate them. These
(expletives) deserve to be hurt. Hurt, I say. Hurt! Hurt! Hurt! Hurt! …
Take out your frustrations on them.”

The extent of exploitation of God's animals by humanity has reached
such intensity that is hard to imagine it can get any worse. Humanity is
failing miserable at being good stewards of God's animals, which only
reflects our hardness of hearts and willful disobedience to our Creator.
Transitioning to a plant-based diet enables us to apply Jesus' teachings
of compassion, mercy and peace.
2. "For hundreds of thousands of years the stew in
the pot has brewed hatred and resentment that is difficult to stop. If
you wish to know why there are disasters of armies and weapons in the
world, listen to the piteous cries from the slaughter house at
midnight." ~ Chinese verse
3. Former Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Plant
Reopens: Former Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing plant in Chino,
California will reopen in a moth under new management and name, American
Beef Packers. Hallmark/Westland ceased operations earlier this year
after incidents of cruelty to cows at the plant led to the largest beef
recall in US history. The new plant will have at least 14 camera
stations outside and inside the plant and an independent third party
will audit the video surveillance.

As long as factory farms exist, it is imperative to have them
monitored in order to reduce animal abuse by workers. Hopefully,
American Beef Packers will enforce their surveillance intentions and
hopefully more factory farms follow this example.
4. (RSV) Deuteronomy 13:4
“You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him, and keep his
commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and cleave to
him.”
To follow God's lead is to obey, serve and depend on Him/Her in our
daily lives. Rather than preaching, glorifying our Creator is to take
action!
5. Action Alert – Urge Japan to Stop Dolphin
Slaughter: Every year between September and April thousands of
dolphins are brutally slaughtered off the shores of the Japanese coastal
towns of Taiji and Futo, causing unimaginable suffering to these
majestic animals in order to be processed into meat and fertilizer.
If you'd like to help this injustice and offense to God's Creation,
please write to Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki at the Embassy of Japan in
the U.S. and politely request that Japan stop cruel dolphin drive hunts
immediately by searching online for: Urge Japan to stop cruel dolphin
drive hunts
6. The “Humane” Myth: Given the testimony from
former farmers, investigators, and animal rescuers who expose the
inherent cruelty of factory farming and the misleading animal product
labels such as cage-free, sustainable, organic and certified humane;
www.HumaneMyth.org has launched an initiative carried out by an
international coalition of individuals and grassroots organizations that
seeks to expose animal exploitation in animal agriculture. To join the
effort and to get the message out, please download the press release and
print it out to distribute or send the link to others: Don't buy the
myth Thanks!
