2.
"Man must never hurt animals, must never ill-treat them
nor torture them physically because they are sensitive creatures. If
anyone told me that to achieve my purpose it would be sufficient to kill
an ant, I would not do it."
~ John, Pope XXIII, Pope 1958-1963
3. Tyson’s
Misleading Label:
Tyson Foods is rescinding its "Raised without antibiotics that impact
human antibiotic resistance" claim on labels of poultry products, given
that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) found that they routinely
used the antibiotic Gentamicin to prevent illness and death in chicks.

The
consumer should be aware that the labels on animal food products can be
misleading. Our choice of diet is an important one for our health, God's
animals and the environment.
4. (RSV)
Ephesians 5:1-2
"Therefore
be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ
loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice
to God."
As children of
God, we are called to reflect God's love for all Creation. Love is
something we do for one another and it translates into actions. Love
means to give ourselves up to honor God and serve others.

EU Rejects Import of US Poultry:
Experts from the European Union's (EU.) member states have rejected
European Commission plans to lift an 11-year ban on US poultry on
imports of chicken treated with chemicals . Even though this will likely
create tension between the US and EU, Monica Frassoni, co-president of
the Greens/EFA Group said, "Member states made this decision in tune
with the opinion of European consumers, who don't want to bow to
American commercial pressure and sacrifice their food production
standards and rules."

6. “Green” Kids:
Raising vegan children in our meat-centered society is
definitely a challenge in spite of the great benefits for their health,
animals and the environment. However, the information available and the
great variety of non-animal products have made it easier than ever to
raise a vegan family, which in turn, encourage the innate sense of
compassion, and justice that kids have.
