Just as we aspire to be welcoming of people of all demographic groups yet might accidentally make a clumsy remark, in general Herndon Friends have listened kindly to concerns about animals and seldom make the kind of unfortunate remarks that vegans are subjected to in other settings.
We perceive the culture of our meeting to be one in which care is taken to avoid hurtful words directed at anyone.
The majority of our potluck offerings are at least vegetarian, and vegan
options are always available, not because of a policy but simply because
several members are vegan and others also bring vegan food to be inclusive.
