FROM Big Cat Rescue

Let the Arizona Cardinals know that animal lovers in America do not want to see a professional football player own a tiger cub as a pet and exploit it as a prop for his “image.”

I am very concerned that Arizona Cardinals football player Darnell Dockett has purchased a tiger cub as a pet.

As an NFL player, Dockett should be a role model for young people. His actions on and off the field should reflect positively on the Arizona Cardinals organization. Instead, he is busy doing media interviews promoting the dangerous, irresponsible and abusive practice of owning an exotic cat. I am also alarmed to learn that Dockett has been quoted in the media regarding his intent to bring the tiger cub to an Arizona Cardinals training camp practice!

To make matters worse, it seems Dockett also owns a pet alligator and recently tried to purchase a monkey. It is very disappointing that a professional athlete with the highly regarded Arizona Cardinals is fast becoming the "poster child" for owning inappropriate pets and making extremely poor choices when it comes to pet ownership.

Dockett's arrogant and selfish behavior reflects very badly upon the Cardinals. Please reach out to Dockett and encourage him to do the right thing by allowing an accredited sanctuary to take ownership of the tiger cub so it can receive proper care throughout its lifetime.

There is Federal legislation pending in the House (HR 1998) and in the Senate (S 1381) that will ban private owners like Dockett from owning exotic cats, but it is not law yet. Please take action NOW and do the right thing for this tiger cub: let Dockett know the Arizona Cardinals do not condone his behavior and want him to stop owning exotic pets.

Thank you for everything you do for animals!
