Meeting with Senator Avella re 'Right to Know' geese protection bill

August 2016

On Wednedsay, August 31, 2016 we met with Senator Tony Avella to discuss passage of the 'Right to Know' geese protection bill introduced by Sen. George Latimer.

See Senate Bill S2600 - Relates to regulating the removal of turkeys and geese from a locality

We urged Mr. Avella, in his capacity as Vice Chair of the Environmental Committee, to act on passing this important bill. Much vital information was exchanged - and Sen. Avella took particular note of the little-known fact that the Advisory Board of the DEC - the licensing agent for Wildlife Services in NYS - is staffed only with hunters per their rules.

See NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Fund Advisory Board

This of course guarantees a biased, lethal outcome to ALL wildlife and environmental decisions; we have also contacted the Atty General about this, and provided that info to Mr. Avella per his request.

Our sincere thanks to licensed Wildlife Rehabiliator Taffy Williams and Robert Guadagna, founder of the Geesebusters humane disbursal method, both of whom were also present at and invaluable to the original creation of the bill itself.

Please thank Mr. Avella for his assistance and urge him to help the passage of this bill:
