The Second Resurrection

Dear Friends! Please remember that the Israelites depicted below are NOT the ones who are called up into the air at the second coming – who are the elect/chosen ones who are reborn (born again) from Adam right through to our Lord’s return among whom will be many Israelites and Jews as well as many others as in Philippians 3:21’

1 Thessalonians 4:16 “For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Philippians 3:21 “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.”

These chosen ones WILL have free will like Lucifer and Adam had, but, they will not rebel like Lucifer and Adam did because they have been tried and tested and tested here in this life and are trusted loyal servants/Kings and Priests of our Lord and God for all the eons to come.

In chapter 1 we addressed the first resurrection wherein, not only the Saints are raised to meet our Lord in the air, but also all their pets and other creatures whom they wish to have with them when they are ruling in the millennium and later on in the “Dispensation of the fullness of times”, now we come to the second resurrection which is of the Israelites – this resurrection was studied and amplified at some length in chapters 9 and 10, earlier in the book, amplifying Ezekiel 37, this study is now extended in more detail here and includes references to Jeremiah 31 – so before reading further and saving the writer a lot of repetition it would be advantageous to just go back to chapters 9 and 10 and reread the parts about the raising of the whole house of Israel, with all their dead flocks and herds (including all those animals, birds etc. who had been killed for sacrifices and/or eaten) – the sheep for their wool to make fine garments – the goats also for their hair and for their milk, don’t forget that these animals will not be abused in any way, but will be  looked after like their own children – there will be no more sacrifices or eating of meat – even eggs (of which only unfertile ones will possibly be eaten for a short time until crops become prolific).  David was a Shepherd – our Lord Himself is called the great Shepherd Heb. 13:20, the hair from the goats was so highly regarded by our God Himself that He commanded that eleven of the curtains covering the original tabernacle should be woven from goats’ hair Exodus 26:7-8, the camels and donkeys as means of transport, the oxen for pulling plows etc., of course it is most probable that some more new non polluting form of energy will be used after a while to release these “beasts of burden” from their burdens. These animals include the Israelites’ Pets and other creatures who will be physical and immortal – they will never die as God originally intended.

Now let us go on to expand this absolutely wonderful/fascinating and extremely important subject.

1. Will the resurrected Israelites have free will?  How will our God change them so that they will no longer be able to rebel and sin in future generations?

2. What will their bodies be like? Will they be like Adam was before He sinned?

1. Will the resurrected Israelites have completely free will like Adam and Eve and their progeny? Not completely! For these resurrected Israelites are to be God’s Holy people who are going to go on to populate the renewed universes with physical/immortal creations as He originally intended Adam and Eve to do; but God gave Adam and his offspring completely free will and look at what has happened – so this time it is going to be different (I mean It is not beyond the realms of possibility that Adam would have eaten of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil even without being tempted by the Devil; perhaps, even after He had eaten of the tree of life and lived forever – who was there to tempt Lucifer/Devil when He fell from grace? Nobody – it came out of His own heart/spirit.)

THEY WILL NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL. Just like no other creature apart from humans do now.

Genesis 2:25

צֲרוּמִּים   הָאָרָם     וְאִשְׁתּו      וְלֻאׁ   יִתְבּשָׁשׁוּ

   they-felt-shame    and-not    and-wife-of-him      the-man      naked-ones

Now don’t forget that Hebrew is written and read from RIGHT TO LEFT so this is translated in the New International Version as “The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.”

Now this was before they had eaten of the fruit of the tree of “good and evil” – in other words it means that they had NO UNGODLY LUST towards one another or any other creature or worldly lust except as the SPIRIT OF GOD who at that time was indwelling them - intended.

So for these newly resurrected Israelites God will not allow their attainment of the knowledge of good and evil because He is going to give them a new heart and spirit.

Some may say, why does God want to populate the universes He has made – isn’t He going to make “All things new” – well NO not exactly – what needs to be made new like the earth and the airy heavens will be made new, but the universes Nehemiah 9:6, Isaiah 13:10, Job 38:31, will be RENEWED.

Right here let us distinguish between what is to be made new, and what is to be renewed.

Isaiah 66:22 “For as the new Heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain”.

The word Heavens in the above verse is SHAMAYIM

הַשָׁמַיִם   הַחֳרָשִׁים

the-new-ones   the-heavens

alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move (the airy heavens) the present ones of which are going to be destroyed.

2 Peter 3:10 “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens   (airy heavens)  shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein  shall be burned up.”

But the stars and planets which are currently deteriorating (but were not originally created so) will be renewed once again as our God originally intended before Lucifer started to wreak His venom/havoc.

Hebrews 11:12 “Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable”. not unnumberable or which cannot be numbered.

Now our great God does not waste His precious time and energy creating things for no purpose.

The analogy between the stars and the sand by the seashore is a wonderful comparison because neither can be numbered (except by God). God originally created Adam to live forever which he would have, had he partaken of the tree of life:

Genesis 3:22 “And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”.

So! Although Adam and Eve had partaken of the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” he still could have partaken of the tree of life if he had been quick enough and lived forever, just the same as Lucifer – Lucifer was given free will by our God the same as Adam and as well created to live forever with far more power than Adam ever had and has - since He rebelled been hard at it trying to undermine our God and His creations. It is hard to even contemplate what would then have happened in the universe if Adam had partaken of the tree of life, (even though science fiction writers have begun to postulate/imagine the effect of human advancement into the universe in cahoots with Satan – but in few cases without death being an option – In films like “Startrek” and many others). But our God could not allow it because He had said that Adam would die – but the interesting point here is that Adam in his perfect body could have lived forever then! If Adam had followed Gods instructions and been fruitful and multiplied – it would not have been very long before this planet would have been too small to cope with the weight of his progeny – then Adam’s offspring would have had to journey to a far country (another world) to carry on their multiplying – so the new homes which God has already made for the newly resurrected Israelites – the new homes being the countless billions of worlds, (some of which you can even see their suns with the naked eye) are innumerable enough to satisfy the requirements of the exploding population of God’s chosen people for a large chunk of eternity.

But! Before we look at populating the universes (Universes plural) –(you don’t really believe that our great Eternal God is going to stop creating do you  - especially now that He has His Saints to help Him?)  Let us continue with His chosen people “The Israelites”.

1. Will the resurrected Israelites have free will?

Firstly let us go back to Adam and Eve; they had totally free will except for the command from God.

Genesis 2:16 “And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die” 18 The Lord God said,  “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.””.

So when God commanded the man that he should not eat of the forbidden fruit Eve had not yet even been created. So Eve would not have had the same spiritual understanding that Adam had of the importance of the command from God Himself but would have been told second hand by Adam.

Genesis 2:25 “The man and his wife were both NAKED, and they felt no shame”.

Repeating again this most important scripture.

צֲרוּמִּים    הָאָרָם     וְאִשְׁתּו    וְלֻאׁ   יִתְבּשָׁשׁוּ

they-felt-shame   and-not    and-wife-of-him  the-man      naked-ones

Now before Eve ate of the forbidden fruit and then gave some to Adam who also ate, even more importantly – they were naked and did not know it – they were clothed with their own hair and the light of God. Still today no other creature on the whole planet knows that it is naked, not wearing clothes – only mankind. Animals and other creatures do not normally have sexual lusts towards their mate except at mating time as God originally intended (unless of course they have been undermined by the Devil) – so it will be with these Israelites – these future populators of the endless universes.

Adam was made perfect in the image of God – His body was the strongest, best and fastest of any Human since born, all creatures were given into his dominion – he would have been able to even outrun the Cheetah who is presently the fastest animal on earth – capable of reaching speeds between 60 and 70 miles an hour (but only for a short time) and turning direction in midair using it’s extremely large tail as a rudder - so Adam would have had no need of material transport but would have been able to move at freeway speed.

Ezekiel 36:26 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments (laws) and do them”. (K.J.V.)

Regarding the above Scripture – I wanted to be sure that my interpretation was correct so I approached a number of highly regarded Scholars of the Hebrew language with the following question.

In your expert opinion – could the following verse Ezekiel 36:27 be construed to mean that these resurrected Israelites will be unable to rebel against God’s laws but will just naturally keep them forever?

וְאֶת־רוּתֶי    אֶתֵּן    בְּקִרְבְּכֶם    וְעָשִיתִי    אִת

    ***     and-I-will-move    at-inside-of-you     I-will-put    Spirit-of-me  and

אֲשֶׁר־בְּחֻקַּי       תֵּלֵכוּ       וּמִשְׁפָּטֵי

and-laws-of-me     you-will-follow     in-decrees-of-me what

תִּשְׁמְרֻוּ       וַעֲשִׂיתֶם

   and-you-will-keep       you-will-be-careful

Here are a few answers from highly regarded Jewish scholars agreeing with what others had written.

Perhaps! (Emphasis mine) but the phrase before it is vague “and I will do (it)”.

Randall Buth.

Here – is a short excerpt from the last paragraph of a lengthy discourse sent to me by a professor from CUA/Semitics.

“As for the second point, I think a lot more needs to be considered than grammar. There is an element of divine causation and a certain degree of passivity for the human agents—that, I think, is without question.... this gets at the somewhat knottier issue of human will.... Yes, an outward compliance can be forced. But in the prophets ISTM that there’s a dimension to keep divine law that is almost impossible to divorce from personal will. That’s where I think it’s harder to say that the picture here is of keeping laws unwillingly. For that matter, if giving someone a new heart affects that person’s will (i.e. if the heart and will are somehow bound, if not synonymous), then it would seem like the picture here is of producing a changed will that results in changed action.”

Jeremiah 32:40 “And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.”  (Remember that the Hebrew, below, reads from right to left)

וְכָרַתִּי    לָהֶם    בְּרִית    צוֹלָם   אֲשֶׁר  לֽא־אָשׁוּב

        I-will-stop never      that       everlasting   covenant-of    with-them    and-I-will-make

מֵאֲחֲרֵיהֶם    לְהֵיטִיבֶי    אוֹתָם   וְאֶת־יִרְאָתִי   אֶתֵּן

      I-will-put       fear-of-me and       to-them       to-do-good-me     from-after-them

בִּלְבֶבֶֿם   לְבִלְתֶּי  םוּר    מֵצֶלָי

  from-with-me    to-turn       not         in-heart-of-them

“A new heart also will I give you” – the Hebrew word for heart here is לֵב  leb meaning the centre of the intellect – in Scripture the head is never regarded as such – see Exod.31:6, 2 Chron. 9:23, Deut 15:9, Prov. 3:3, Jer. 32:39,40, and many others.

The writer hopes he has made clear the point, that these resurrected Israelites who are now immortal will not want to – or even be able to rebel against the wishes and laws of Almighty God.

2. What will their bodies be like? Will they be like Adam was before He sinned?

Not completely as reiterated in question 1 – However! Their physique will be the same as God originally created – most likely much larger and stronger than the present day, which has been subject to the vagaries of sin for thousands of years – both the people and all other creatures.

Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.”

Genesis 6:4: “There were giants in the earth in those days;....”

Can you imagine mosquitoes the size of large butterflies?

Isaiah 11:9 “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my Holy Mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”

Mosquitoes were beautiful before the Devil and sin eroded their beauty.

So! Right here we have the Israelites and all their flocks and herds and other creatures resurrected to eternal life, ready to populate God’s eternal universes, living on an earth which has been revamped after the conflagration as amplified in chapter 9, living side by side with the nations which He will rule with a rod of iron.

Revelation 19:15 “And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron:...”

Until the end of the thousand years when the Devil is let free for a short while.

Revelation 20:7 “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”

The word saints in the above verse is άγίων and are the multitudes of the resurrected Israelites and their progeny who have received new hearts and new spirits who are incapable of being seduced by the Devil or disobeying God’s laws.

In the N.I.V. the word is translated as “God’s people”.

They are NOT the elect/chosen ones who are called up into the air at the second coming and who have been ruling.

The elect/chosen ones are άγίαις  translated in the N.I.V. as holy ones.

Jude 1:14 “ Enoch, the seventh from Adam prophesied about these men “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of His holy ones.””

the third resurrection

Chapter 2 is getting a bit large; so this theme of the Israelites populating the physical universes will be continued in chapter 3 – As well as further amplification of the great White Throne Judgement - The  raising of other creations and further exploits of the SAINTS.

Go on to Part 4, Chapter 3.
